NetEss 70-058

Monday September 14, 1998

Took the Network Essentials test today and passed with a 948. I felt pretty good about my score. This was my first test so I can not give out a comparison on the ease or difficulty of this test.

What I used to help me prepare for this test:

        1) Networking Essentials by Global Knowledge Network Certifitcation Press.

        2) Networking Essential by ExamCram

        3) Networking Essentials MSCE Exam Notes by Sybex

        4) Transcender Exams

        5) Networking Essentials Study Guide from Troy Technologies USA

        6) Brain Dumps...Brain Dumps...Brain Dumps

My next test is going to be Test 70-67 Windows NT Server 4.0.

My test was really pretty easy, in fact everything that was covered in these brain dumps. I had the 2 T1 line scenerios, I had 2 NetBIOS naming scheme scenerios, and two scenerios on cutting broadcast traffic by 50%.

Several Protocol Analyzer questions

2-3 Incorect frame types

No HOST or LMHOST questions

No questions on what OIS Layer does a particular protocol reside.

1 ATM question

No wireless questions.

Overall, it was a fairly easy test if you prepared for it. I started studying for this test at the end of July. I did not put long hours in each day, I just studied a little each day or every other day. What really helped me was to get my hands on as many tests as I could. The transcender Tests, although pricy at around $130, was worth the cost. The Troy Technologies USA Study Guide which cost around $28, was a tremedous help. My main advice for anyone who is taking their first test is get prepared and then set a date to take the test 2-3 weeks in advance. Once you set the date you seem to study harder.

Again a big thank you needs to go out to the person or person's who are responsible for this brain dump site. It truly was a big help.
