Well, I wrote the adaptive net essential test today and finished with a 673, not that good but I've passed. I had a total of 25 questions with one drag and drop and three scenarios. I almost never made it 'cause we were dumped with 30+ cm of snow today.

***NOTE***

These Q & A are simply review of what I can remember off the top of my head. they are the answers that I have put and eventhough I think that they are right they should still be checked.

Had no:

OSI questions (except the drag and drop)

IRQ conflict questions

My drag and drop was to put the proper protocols (TCP; IP; SPX; IPX and DLC) in there proper OSI level. Network layer(IP; DLC; IPX) Transport layer(TCP; SPX)
One scenario was: Proposed- that you had a series of 15 character (unique) hexadecimal netbios names. the required was to have your network support this naming scheme at the present time and after you connected to a WAN. The optional was to have you naming scheme denote the dept. of an employee and the employee himself. Because hexadecimal are a series of numbers, the proposed only complies with the required and not the optional.
The other scenario was that you wanted to have centralized admin. of your 5 NT servers. There were three optional and I can remember that the required was met but that two of the optional would have needed auditing and it never said anything about that in the proposed. The other optional wasn't met either cause it asked to implement a way to stop people from using hacking prog. to get the passwords and all that the proposed suggested was to have users change passwords every 40 days, therefore this optional wasn't met either.
Some bridge; gateway; router questions. Remember that they will always try to get you on the protocol aspect of this by giving you a non-routable protocol like Netbeui and trying to get you to choose a router.
One question on IBM mainframes which you had to pick the DLC protocol.
A question on having a peer-to-peer with Win95 machines, which protocol can you use. There were four answers and the one to pick was IPX/SPX. Netbeui and TCP/IP weren't a choice.
Two questions on using the IPX/SPX and having trouble with the network adapter card. The answers to both were the framing type.
One question on connection-oriented. Answer was assured delivery.
I had one question on connectivity with UNIX and Novell clients. You had to pick the proper protocols for each. I believe the answer was IPX/SPX and TCP/IP.
