Brain Dump Exam 058 Network Essentials:

Thanks to all who have posted before. This was my last test and I passed with 884. I am now MCSE.

Now for the test:

Most is covered elsewhere in these dumps but here goes:

• MAC addresses are preset by the manufacturer and can not be set by the user. If you have a situation with 2 cards with the same MAC address you must change 1 out!

Interesting scenario:

You have 6 servers each with 1 hard drive minimum 2GB(in a chart with a bunch of other info).

Solution:

Change all drives to NTFS and add NTFS security. Plus a bunch of other proposed changes.

This solution can not work! If the server has no FAT partition it can not boot.

• Lots of questions on connectivity so you need to understand TCP/IP and NetBEUI also that Netware uses IPX/SPX and UNIX only uses TCP/IP.
• Know what is a protocol and how they are used.
• Example: Dial up network using NetBEUI do you use SLIP, PPP, TCP or ?
• Know that NetBEUI is not routable and routers stop broadcast storms.
