This is a brain dump for the Network Essentials Exam 70-058. This is my Brain Dump for the Network Essentials exam 70-058. And believe me, I sure am glad to dump this stuff from my brain. Wakka wakka. On a more serious note, I passed today, August 3, 1998 with a score of 827. Here are my dumps:
1) First of all, don't think that every piece of info on this page is correct, some of the input does collide.
2) Every last question on the test, I have seen in a brain dump by somebody.
I didn't have the one about the 16 RAS servers, and I'm glad because there's been a lot of controversy over that formula. Although, I was ready to answer "the requirement is not met" if I saw it.
SLIP and PPP for dialup connections
The diagram was indeed a mesh
Network -> router
Data link -> bridge
Physical -> repeater
All of the questions with that mentioned protocal analyzers in the answers had a correct chioce of protocal analyzer NDIS/ODI links multiple adapters on one card
Know your IRQ's...I only had one question on it, though I have seen many more in the past
Client makes requests and server fulfills through the back-end
All is true about the incorrect frame type questions. Incorrect frame type for NWLink, wrong transceiver for the rest.
ATM can hold voice and data on a single line.
ATM can support over 100 Mbps
Connection orientated supply assured delivery
Only 1 ground per 10Base2 backbone
RIP for hops
PPP uses compression
I got the question about replacing RG58A with RG58A/U
Fiber optic is a good 100 Mbps backbone
Use Bus if the network is temporary
All of the scenario questions were easy. The method I used really helped...I took it from someone else's brain dump...so credit to the author, even though I can't remember who it is.
Scenario Method:
When you see the required and optional results, write down the things necessary to complete them. For example...if it says that you must be able to track user attempts to break in to certain files, write down enable auditing. Then when you get the proposed solution, just check off the items covered. It really helps, before I was really horrible at those questions, but it's a lot easier now.
Take my advise as you will, remember I could be wrong on a few things, but I'm almost positive that I'm right...I tried not to post any of the controversial topics. Good Luck to all!
