Subject: MCSE: Tip on Networking Essential.

I passed my NE today (931), was my last exam and I'm MCSE now, this exam wasn't difficult, but few things you must remember:

1. The functions of the connectivity devices (Repeater, router, bridge, brouter, gateway), router only for routerable protocol, brouter for routerable and non routerable protocol, gateway for communicate with different protocol and others mainframes.

2. About 3 or 4 question regarding WAN connectivity, if you are not sure about the answer, click on "ATM", ISDN is going to replace existing analog phone line.

3. Diagnostic Tools, examnies packets uses Protocol Analyser, What to use to examnies defective nic card ? (find out yourself), I got about 5 question regarding diagnostic tools, seems like most of the answer are Protocol Analyzer.

4. Remember Com2 and Com4 use IRQ3 and Com1 and Com3 use IRQ4.

5. Gateway resides at which level of OSI (Application, Presentation, Session and Transport)

6. Mininum category cable requirement for 10baseT (Category 3), 100baseT (Category 5). 10base2 uses and BNC connector.

7. Find out the purpose of NDIS and ODI (2 question on this).

8. PPP and SLIP are for dial-up connection, SLIP does not auto assign IP address.
