Braindump on Networking Essentials

Aug. 4, 1998

History:

Passed at the third attempt three hours ago. First try at 706, second at 758 and third at 948 missing three questions. Studying materials were MS and Sybex Press Networking Essentials before taking the first test. Preparation was clearly insufficient. There was only one week between the first and second attempt, but six weeks before the second and third attempt. After the second try, purchased Que’s Core Exams, Exam Prep, Exam Cram, Transcender, New Riders’s Core Exams software, and Braindump.

Recommended study materials:

MS Networking Essential, Transcender, Braindump, and practice other test prep questions.

The third test was clearly hard than the first two and harder than those questions in Transcender and others. The required knowledge was about the same as those in study guides but the wordings that MS phrased made them harder to understand. As I remember ..............

  1. Scenario, at least ten and I spent most of the time
  1. NDIS and ODI, two questions

The answer is simply to allow several protocols to be bound on one NIC. However, MS worded in such a way that I had to eliminate other choices to get the answer.

  2. 10 computers using window NT workstations can use (select all)
  1. share-level security
  2. user-level security
  1. 10 computers using window NT servers can use (select all)
  1. share-level security
  2. user-level security
  1. 750 computer using window NT workstations set up for security with minimum administration
  1. share-level ......
  2. share-level .....
  3. central administration with user-level security
  4. central administration with share-level security
  1. Connect TCP/IP and Netbeui into a network

Brouter, gateway, and others. I chose gateway.

  2. Connect two 10baseT computers 300m apart

8. No wireless

Others included incorrect flame type with IPX/NWLink, mismatched protocols, incorrect transceiver setting, replace RG-58/U with RG-58 A/U for thinnet, IRQ conflicts, ATM, ISDN, etc.

Keep trying. You can make it.
