Subject: MCSE Net Essentials 70-58 passed!
Well, I passed! But not by that much. Final score 844. This was the screwy test you referred to. I was anticiapating a score in the mid to upper 900's so needless to say I was disappointed. I know, anything over a 793 is wasted bandwidth but I really thought I aced it.

Here are some of the surprises:
A higher level protocol which allows file sharing:
I chose appletalk....not sure if I should have chosen SMB?
Three cities connected using RAS for WAN connections, 8 each 28.8 modems
on 16 port hubs to all three cities. No mention of multilink, or multiplexing.
Required: 1Mps wan connection
I said: does not meet.
Three cities connected using T-1 and asynchonous 9600bps lines. LA (t1 & async) to Chi (t1 & async) to NY
Required wan connections to meet minimum of 1mps.
Optional support connections if one line goes down and maintain 1mps.
I originally had c - meets req. + 1 optional but I changed the answer to d - does not meet because all wan connections are not 1 mps or better. I think now I shld have stayed with c.
You want to support and monitor routers, hubs, bridges and gateways, what should you include in your planning for network implementation. Even though protocol analyser was offered as a choice, I opted for SNMP messaging agent. Probably wrong but I thought it was the best choice.
I went with ATM and Protocol analyser on all the other choices. Maybe there are some where they aren't the answer?
Also, troubleshooting...no mismatched protocol.
Ann's computer can NO LONGER (in bold) access the network, but everybody else can...what to check first. I said network connection at Ann's computer.
Well, thats most of what I had that I can think of as different from expected. Lots of router, couple of gateway questions. No wireless. No OSI model. 1 irq question. Two frame type mismatch. 5 cable types. 1 reconfiguring cable terminals (exhibit showed five clients on 10base2 terminated 3 places) 1 - change grounding to only one of the cable terminators.
I felt very prepared and not intimidated by the questions. All in all not that difficult, but I should have scored better. Anyway thanks for the test prep.and bdumps from various list participants.
