Test Name: Network Essentials

Test 70-58

I just passed network essentials and I have a small contribution to this excellent web-site.  The following general remarks:

- no questions about OSI

- a lot of questions about routers, gateways, bridges

- a lot of questions that I'd seen here in the braindump site I remember these new questions:

------------------------

3 cities, each have a T1 connection and a ATM backup for the connection:

Connected like this: O===O===O (O: city ===: the double connection)

req: 1 Mbps connection

opt: - connection still possible in case of problems with one line

- 1 Mbps connection in case of problems

I anwsered that all needs are satisfied

------------------------

3 cities, each have a T1 connection and a 16 Ports RAS server with 28k8 modems for backup

Connected like this: O===O===O (O: city ===: the double connection)

req: 1 Mbps connection

opt: - 1 Mbps connection still possible in case of problems with one line

I anwsered that only required is satisfied, because the modems won't get you 1Mbps

------------------------

75 computers on a 10baseT network

req: reduce network traffic 50%

opt: - minimal costs

- network can sitll grow

sol: replace UTP cable for fiber optics cable and replace network cards for FDD

I awnswerd that required and 1 optional is satisfied, because of the costs aspect

-----------------------

network with 5 NT Servers, 1 server DHCP, 1 server WINS, TCP/IP, routers Users can find eachother with IP adres, but not with names What do you check first?

- WINS

- DHCP

- router

- bridge

I choose router, because of netBIOS broadcasts, but I'm not sure.

Good luck and remember to check out the braindump exams. They really

help!
