I took the Networking Essentials test this morning, January 21, 1999 scoring 775 out of 1000. This is my first test and I am happy that I passed the first time. The Braindump helped me a lot. The best source I would recommend is the Rampage site. It helped me a lot. I got many questions exactly the same from the Rampage site, http://rampages.onramp.net/~madell/netess.htm. Most of the questions which I got are already in braindump or rampage. Its about the frame type in IPX, bridges, routers , T1 lines to connect different cities etc. no OSI model.

1. Network utilization is more than 50%, which equipment you will use to determine this.

a. TDR

b. OTDR

c. Cable Tester

d. Protocol Analyzer *

One weird question I had which I had not seen in the brain dump or rampage.

1. Matt is working in a network, which is divided into many segments. From his Windows 95 workstation, he is trying to access the NT server which is in a remote segment. He cannot access the NT Server. The Administrator asked whether he can ping the network address of the server from his workstation.

Matt tried pinging the server and he is able to ping it. What does this mean. (They have given few choices like)

a. It proves Matt network card is working.

b. Since the server is in a remote segment he cannot access it.

Other two choices I do not remember, I guessed the answer so I am not sure.

Anyway, all the best, relax before taking the test. Here I go to prepare for NT Workstaion.
