Hello All, passed Net Essentials today, Nov, 23 with a 682. Quite frankly, I didnt do as well as I expected, but hell I passed. What did I excpect when I answered all 25 questions in 10 minutes. I used the MS self paced book, www.cramsession.com and this wonderful site to pass. A few helpful practice exams are offered in the before mentioned site or you could look at Peter's dump. Well anyway onto the questions I had.
Before I begin I would like to express my whole hearted thanks to the people who take the time to Braindump, and to the operator of this site!!!! PLEASE keep those dumps coming in!!
I had about 8 questions that were word for word from this site for example,
1. What is a characteristic of conection--oriented communication?
-----it provides assurance of packet delivery***
2. You are designing a peer to peer network that consists of 5 Microsoft Windows
95 computers. Which should you use? C. NWlink IPX***
3. You connect a client computer to a networkk that uses NWLink IPX. The client
computer is not able to access any network resources. After investigation you
decide that hardware is not causing the problem. What is most likely the cause
of the problem? Incorrect frame type on the client computer***
4. I had the standard 3 T1 Links, 2 T1 Links offered as a solution.
Answer: Produces the required but none of the optionals
5. What do you need in a UNC( Universa Naming Convention) name?
Computer name and Share name***
Onto the new questions I hadnt seen on this site!
1. You have a DHCP server and a WINS server, You are using TCP/IP, You can
You can communicate with the network using the IP address, but not when
using the servers name. What do you examine first?
A. DHCP server**
B. WINS server
C. Gateway
D. Router
I chose to examine the DHCP server first since it works with TCP/IP. Im not
of this answer so check it out! Also, the Essentials book does not offer much
information on the subject so look in the Server book.
2. You have a network using NetBeui and TCP/IP. The client and server are in
different subnets. The client can PING the server but cannot access the server
using its name.What's the problem?
A. Client and the server have the same IP address
B. Server has wrong subnet mask
C. Server name not registered with the name server
D. Client's name not registered with the name server**
I chose D.
3. You want to manage Microsoft Windows NT Server computers that are located
on remote subnet. All of these servers are configured in a single windows NT
domain. You will manage these servers from another Win NT server that is
located in your office. You want to use User Manager to manage the remote
servers. What would you install and configure to resolve the computers names
of the servers? ( Chose 2 )
A. DNS Server
B. DHCP Server**
C. WINS Server**
D. LMHosts file
E. RAS Server
This is another question that is not fully answered in the Essentials book, I feel
it is more of a server question. I chose B and C because WINS is used in
conjunction with NetBeui and DHCP is used with TCP/IP. DNS is used to
translate Domain names into IP addresses. RAS is for remote clients etc... But
again am not sure of this answer.
4. There was an odd question saying that you have 8 or so client computers all
using TCP/IP it asked you to chose an appropriate topology? The answers
went something like this:
A. Ring Physical topology**
Ring Logical topology
Star Logical Topology
C. Star Physical Topology
Star Logical Topology
D. Star Physical Topology
Ring Logical Topology
I answered A. Again check this one out on your own
Well thats about all I can remember,Microsoft has added a bunch of new questions. Some were just worded differently to throw us off. Workstation's next GOOD LUCK to All, PAUL
