Subject: Brain Dump 70-058 Networking Essentials

As I was taking the exam I was doubtful I was going to pass - I knew the material but it's the way Microsoft words some of those questions that threw me off. The Microsoft Press Networking Essentials Book is helpful bu 3 questions to share:

1) you have a network running Windows95 - what type of security?

a- share level

b- user level

..... you have the option of checking both - I only checked share level - research this your self - I got 6 wrong so this could be one of them.

2) Scenario - you have servers and clients on a 10BaseT network with no routers or bridges. Lots of traffic.

Required: Decrease Network Utilization

Option: Room for growth

Keep costs to a minimum

Their solution: Replace UTP3 with UPT5; replace adapters and hubs with

100BaseTX adapters and hubs.

I'll let you find the answer - I'm not quit sure - I thought you would need to segment with bridges and routers to cut down on traffic.

3)Scenario - you have servers and NT clients, Unix clients, MacIntosh clients

protocols are: NetBeui, NWLink IPX, AppleTalk, TCP/IP

you have brouters

Goal: decrease network utilization

Their answer: disable bridging and only use NWlink IPX
