Hi all,

I just took the network essentials exam and passed (Thank God!!!).... here is my contribution.. sorry I can't remember all 25 questions.

1. you have a 4/16Mbps Token ring machine and was running on a 4Mbps lan. The LAN was upgraded to 16Mbps. What do you need to do on that machine?? I chose "reboot the machine"

2. One drag and drop question, i was given the OSI model and have to fill in the Network and Transport layers for both TCP/IP and IPX/SPX. (5 choices, TCP/UDP, IP, SPX, IPX, DLC)

3. 2 other questions about Token Ring. One of them said that you have a token ring network, network utilization increases, what do you have to do to fix this problem??? I chose ( divide the network into 2 rings and then use token ring bridge to connect)

4. 1 question about WAN. 3 branches on 3 different cities. 2T1s among 3 cities... solution meets the required but not the optional.

5.  2 questions on NDIS and ODI.

6. 1 question on X.25

7. 1 question regarding wrong frame type.

8. 1 question about wrong  transceiver.

9. scenario question: the company used to have only 300 computers and now increases to 1000 computer, network utilization increases, you have to minimize it by 50%, all servers use TCP/IP, win95 and NT use also NETBEUI

NT servers 25

Windows 95 300

Mactinosh 600

UNIX 75

Protocols IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, NetBEUI, APPLETALK

BROUTER 3

optional :

-minimize the  cost

-  future expansion on the  network

proposed solution :

turn off  bridging on brouter, reconfigure all win95 to use TCP/IP, also reconfig all brouter and server to only TCP/IP and AppleTalk.

Good luck.
