test name:TCP/IP 4.0
test # 70-059
I took the TCP/IP 4.0 test this morning. It was the first adaptive test that I have taken. I managed to pass with a 738 in 45 minutes. The required score to pass is 570. I liked the new testing format. I thought it was very straight forward and covered the information very well. I used the transcenders (version 4.0), braindumps, and New Riders MCSE TCP/IP 4.0 book to study. The transceders were by far the most helpful.
I had approximately 8 DNS questions.
I had a drop and drag question that looked something like this:
Primary DNS server
Secondary DNS server
SOA
Cache file
Cache-only server
Reverse Lookup file
These objects had to be dragged to a brief description of each one. As long as you understand the use of each one, this question is extremely easy.
I had approx. 4 questions that related to Unix environments.
I did not have a single subnetting question (but studied it anyway)
I had the question about the mail record on the DNS server, The answer was an MX record.
3 Scenerio Questions
Know RAS.
I had an odd question about how to set up the default gateway on WIN 95 workstation who want to browse the internet through a RAS server. (You may be able to find reference to this question in another braindump.)
Know FTP, TFTP, TELNET, and PING.
Know when to use Performance Monitor vs. Network monitor.
Be familiar with NBSTAT and NETSTAT.
Hope this helps.
I want to thank everyone who contributes to this site!!!!
