TCP/IP FOR NT 4.0
Well this was a comedy of errors, and youll understand when I say dont do what I did. Took the test yesterday morning and failed with a 672. Retook the test yesterday afternoon and passed with an 844. It was not a one of my better performances, but it is a pass. 5 down and 1 to go.
My biggest mistake was that when I sat down and wrote my subnetting table down I got my subnets to hosts numbers backwards. Needless to say, that contributed to the death of my morning test. Make sure that you get these numbers right!
My resources for this one were: Mastering Windows NT Server 4 Fifth Edition Mark Mesnasi
Exam Cram for TCP/IP
Transcender
Braindumps were also helpful.
Know what the utilities are and do.
I had 6 "Blue Screen" scenario questions.
The first four dealt with adding a Server with 3 NICs.
Make sure you watch for IP Routing being enabled and SNMP being installed and configured.
I had trouble with a question that dealt with connecting to a server.
You could connect by using net use\\xxxxxx\xxxxx but when you try to perform ftpxxx.xxx.xxx.xxx you could not connect. The answer that I finally chose was that you didnt have rights to the ftp on the server, either I didnt see from the choices about CNAME or I just didnt understand the question. The next question was the exact opposite it. You could connect to the ftp but couldnt connect with the net use command. I got that one right.
Know that network monitor captures and analyzes and that performance monitor will track activity and export to a text file.
Well, thats all that I remember. I wish you the best of luck on your exam, and remember, dont make the mistake that I made, it will cost you !!!!
