Test Name: TCP/IP
Test # 70-059
Just sat TCP/IP a few minutes ago, passing score now that it is adaptive is 570, I scored an 806. I received 25 questions, but was very surprised that it took so long. You are given 90 minutes for the actual exam portion, and I used about an hour of that (very rare for me).
I had about 3 scenario questions of the standard sort, where you are given a scenario, required and optional results, and a proposed solution. I had tons of questions regarding troubleshooting and name resolution methods; know these cold or you'll never survive. I saw a lot of DNS related questions specifically -- not surprising. Also a question or 2 regarding WINS push/pull partners for replication.
I had two of the "drag-and-drop" questions. One was a matter of matching the different monitoring and trouble-shooting utilities with their appropriate abilities and uses. The second was much more time-consuming; it involved being given an IP address for a network and the number of subnets needed. You had to determine the appropriate subnet mask to use in order to allow for the subnets while maintaining the greatest possible number of host addresses. There were 6 different scenarios... all rolled into one question! Know how the entries in a routing table need to be set up. Know when you should use PerfMon vs. NetMon, and what SNMP can be used for.
Just as I (and everyone else) always say... know the product and you will be fine. If you try to fake it, you probably won't be!
