Subject: 70-059 Posting
Again, Robert, tremendous site. Here is my TCP/IP 70-059 dump:
Passed 70-059 yesterday with a 948!!! The highest score out of the five I have taken.
I was really worried about this one. Even though I have taken some TCP/IP classes at a local university, they were more general in nature and I had a gut feeling MS was going to hammer away at the protocol. I was pleasantly surprised.
Again, as with many other dumps, memorize and write down before the test the subnet mask chart, interval, # of hosts, etc. This makes the test so much easier.
As many other dumps have mentioned, know WINS, DHCP, DNS, resolution order. All other questions had at least one mention of these services/protocols, so you better know the basics of these or your are dead.
What I found helpful for the long-winded scenario questions, where there were 4 different proposed solutions, was to read through all the answers for each solution. Invariably, one will meet all the requirements. Use this answer to help resolve the other solutions and eliminate the required/optional requirements for the previous questions. Makes it a lot easier.
Here is what I remember:
what do you use to find the path a packet takes?
tracert
what do you use to monitor TCP/IP stats since the last reboot?
netstat
what do you use to monitor TCP/IP stats(choose two)?
netstat, perf mon(it didn't list network mon)
what do you use to capture and examine Ethernet frames?
network monitor
what do you use to capture TCP/IP packets, log them and export to a spreadsheet?
perf mon
what determines how many host id's needed for a subnet mask?(choose two)
NIC for host, router interface
what do you install on a UNIX workstation to monitor a NT server?
UNIX-SNMP management app, NT-SNMP(worded funny)
what do you install on a NT server with an attached device to allow a UNIX machine to print to it? TCP/IP printing service what do you use to send a text-based job to a NT server?
lpr
what do you use to monitor jobs on a NT server?
lpq
what resolution method to use if you want client to talk to WINS first, then broadcast?
h-mode
many questions on the following: can't ping by ip address, can't connect to local machine, can use explorer to connect but not via ftp, the standard ones you will find on this web page.
Remember, the answers are there: eliminate obviously wrong ones and then concentrate on what is left.
