Subject: TCP/IP Braindump
TCP/IP NT4.0
My first Exam, 58 Questions 90 Minutes
I passed with 896 points.
Sunet masking was easy, nothing difficult. The worst one I got was regarding a range for a class C address with a mask of 255.255.255.224 ; Just remember that all ones and zeros are invalid and you'll be OK.
A weird one I got read like this:
Name 2 utilities that will give you a summary of cumulative IP and Ethernet statistics on a Windows NT4.0 server, since last boot up.
a) Netmon
b) NET
c) Netstat
d) NBTstat
I chose a and c, though I disagree with Netmon, because you need to start a capture to receive stats.
I got a lot of short questions i.c.w/WINS server. Like what do you install to reduce broadcast traffic on a Microsoft Network running NT4.0?
I had a scenario for Push/Pull partners across a 56K WAN. Know when to push and when to pull.
I got the ever so common router configuration problem. Same as: http://members.aol.com/wbraint/feedback1.html
Scenario: You have so many users in two different LANs, you must connect
the two LANs with a NT4.0 server as a router that updates routes dynamically,
get its IP dynamically and passes SNMP packets to a management station.
I had four diffent solutions offered for this scenario, easy points. eg.
NT must ROUTE, enable RIP, Install SNMP agent, install DHCP client.
Know on what clients are WINS supported, I got a question relating a lot of Win95 workstations on one LAN that need to browse the network resources on a the local network and on remote networks.
You have 10 unix machines, 4 NT servers, 100 NT workstations and 80 Win95 PCs. What would you install to enable cross communications by machine name? They give answers and you must say which best provides a feasible solution. (WINS, DHCP, WINS Proxy....)
Good Luck & Thanks for all you help!!
