test #: 70-059
Hello All,

The test wasn't all that bad.  Yes it was adaptive.  I only had 23 questions and to my surprise there were no SUBNETTING QUESTIONS.  Most of my questions were on routing, planing and tcpip utilities.  The Score to beat was 570.  My score was 709.  Study material used: TECNET, SYBEX CORE REQUIREMENTS and EXAM CRAM.  Good luck.

Thanx,
Ron

I failed the TCP/IP exam this morning. I got 555 out of the 570 needed to pass. I only got 25 questions so I think that I answered one of the 10 questions that come after the 15 adaptive questions wrongly.

I didn't have 1 question asking me about subnet masking, I had quite a few about the use of the LMHOSTS file and also quite a few about using WINS, DHCP over subnetted networks.

I found the basic exam quite easy, I was only unsure about 1 question to do with which entries in the LMHOSTS file are needed over a multiple domain environment.

This test means that you have to get ALL answers right.

Last night I made the mistake of reading a DOOMSDAY braindump called NO HOPE. I was totally freaked because within 12 hours I was taking the Exam and this was the first that I had heard of the TCP/IP 4.0 having gone adaptive. I had been beaming with confidence because I had done well on all of the Transcender tests, but much of the braindump feedback on the new exam format made it sound like a nightmare. So after very little sleep, I took the exam this morning and passed easily. I only had to answer 25 questions. The exam was fair and tested on what we should know if we claim to be knowledgeable in TCP/IP. Although their are fewer questions, each question requires a more comprehensive understanding of the material. In other words, if you only know the answers to the Transcender questions and don't understand the underlying concepts, you will probably fail. Adaptive testing is not the end of life as we know it for those of us who still have a few (3) more exams to take. If you know the material, YOU WILL PASS the adaptive test. Don't get bogged down in details. Just make sure that you understand how name resolution in all of its forms impacts a subnetted domain, that means browsing, logons, file transfer, file sharing and anything else that you'd expect to do on the network. GOOD LUCK!
This was my first Adaptive test and my last test which a made me reach my goal as an MCSE I thought that it was actually easier the test questions did not seem to be any harder than previous test, and after only 25 questions the test stopped and informed me that I had passed. One bit of advice which I would recommend I purchased the trancender cert 4 and the MCSETOBE test which was only 50 from your site. I found more questions on the 50 test prep than the 200 dollar trancender exams save your money. And thank you to whom ever came up with this idea of brandumps with out it I would never have accomplished such a great task as the MCSE.

Just got back a few hours ago from taking the TCP exam. It is definitely adaptive and I scored just high enough to pass. Anyway, my recommendation is... know DNS like the back of your hand, DHCP, WINS, WINS Proxy, RAS, etc. I had maybe two drag and drop questions on subnetting, one drag and drop on subnet masks and none on utilities. I'd say approximately 75% of it was on the stuff listed above. I though I really knew my shit but this test proved me wrong. I'm not proud of my score but, oh well, a pass is a pass is a pass I guess.

Just got back from my exam - it was adapative -I finished knowing that I hadn't passed. I had zero subnetting questions, no binary questions, and LOTs of scenario questions, RAS, DHCP, WINS, know the resolution. I'm not proud of my score - but I did pass..  by the skin of my teeth

thanks to this site I was well aware of the change in testing. I studied continuously for 2 weeks with examcram and transcender. passed with 650 they shot just 25 questions at me then it was all over. 1 to go.
1.know ras
2.know subnetting for troubleshooting purposes
3.they shot the same question twice at me. It was about couninuousbroadcast answer:subnet mask is wrong

thanks again

Yesterday, I pass the TCP/IP.  I found the exam very easy, it was only 25 question untill it tell me that I pass.  People do not worries about this one.  Question were very simple, nothing about IP address, subnet mask, router.

More attention on wins, dns, one question of LMHOSTS easy and simple, trhee about utillities.

I thing that it nothing to be really worry.

You has a lot of time to play whit the exam, well I did not check my questions but at the end it gave me the oportunity of revew the exam.

The exam set that adaptive betwen-("")-, but frends of my have taken, and I thing the te question are the same for every body.

Just came back from the test center. Passed TCP/IP with 802 in 25 minutes.

Hello Folks,

I did not feel any difference between the Adaptive style and the older style exams. Forget about everything and just prepare for the test as if you do for the non-adaptive tests. In fact, adaptive style is easier. I used only Transcenders and Exam Cram. I did not get any new questions apart from what we have in Transcenders and Brain Dump Heaven ( of course, the wordings are quite different ).

My recommendation: Don't take Transcender tests. Just print the exams and use permanent markers to hide the answer choices and read the questions. Try to answer them and please please please read the reasonings thoroughly. That's it, you can take the real exam now.  Note: I have about an year working experience in NT - That's very important.

Test Number: 70-059

Passed the TCP/IP exam this evening with a 768. 570 is required. I think I might be one of the few people who like the adaptive testing. It makes the test shorter if you know what you are doing.   I read the MS Press Self-Paced Training for TCP/IP cover to cover in three

days, and took all the Transcenders. Experience will definitely benefit you, since there are a lot of situational type questions. I had no questions on Subnetting, but know Routing Tables, DNS and WINS inside and out. Understand their interoperability with each other and different systems. I was able to eliminate answers when the answer was not obvious.  There were usually pretty obvious choices for elimination.

Good Luck!

Finally passed the TCP/IP this afternoon--MCSE.   Adaptive is not that horrible.Read the  Trancender and MS selftest carefully, you will get it. OLD BrainDump still helps(10/25),again check out  answers. Drag and drop are easy ones,it included in general knowledge.no need to worry about. Though the time is long enough to answer all of the questions, you still need to calm down before hit start button--you can NOT go back once you hit next.

Talk about calm down,if you want to take test in San Jose, you might want to skip the "American Acadamy of Aeronaut" test center. Why?I tell you why,the CHICK-- "Angelica" work in there not only will talk to her girl friend loudly in test room, also their printer always "out of  order". Means she never care and feel sorry for their service. You can get your MCSE   happily,or......try to please Angelica.

Anyway, remember all you have learned from previous exam  and focus on troubleshooting with TCP/IP you will passed easily as I did. Every information   you get from here are just tools. Use them train yourself and improve your ability of  "organization". After all, you will be prepared for any questions even you never seen before.
