TCP/IP - 70-059

Passed today with: 754

The test was adaptive 35 questions and 10 non-adaptive. Thanks to all of you who entered information on the adaptive test. 90 minutes to take the test but I completed it in 45 minutes. It was not an easy test. You must Here’s my brain dump.

Study material: Exam Cram – TCP/IP

  1. UNIX computer you want to copy files the to does not accept FTP Anonymous connections What two utilities can you use:
    1. FTP
    2. Tftp
    3. Scopy
    4. Rcp

(Not sure the bold are the correct answer; check out FTP)

  1. What would you use to view the current Port connections for your FTP Server?
    1. Server Manager
    2. Control Panel Port applet
    3. FTP Server
    4. ?
  1. Scenario: RAS ( 2 questions –Study RAS configure for dial-in clients):
  2. DHCP, WINS configured (sorry don’t remember the exact question. Two modems installed for dial-up.

    Required:

Configure RAS that remote dial in clients can use all resources

    Two clients concurrently dial-in

    Optional:

All files transferred are able to use encryption

    (Can’t remember the 2nd option)

    Proposal:

Configure RAS with modem pool and two separate dial-in lines?

    Configure with encryption

Assign each client Server IP address

(Study RAS remote dial-in; I had two scenario questions)

  3. Scenario: ( From Transcender on NIC routing)
  4. Installed 2 NIC cards must be able to route

    Required:

    Route

    Optional:

  5. Network with 100 workstations 20 UNIX computers, UNIX computers never move each UNIX hostname consists of no more than 15 characters, TCP/IP is protocol used. DHCP configured with one scope. All Windows based computers are set up as DHCP clients.
  6. Required:

Every Windows based computer on each subnet must be able to access the Windows NT Server computers by computer name

Every Windows based computer must be able to receive its IP address

    Optional:

All UNIX systems should access by hostname any Widows NT Server computer that is set up as an FTP server

All Windows based computers should access by hostname any UNIS computer that is set up as a TELNET or FTP server.

    Proposal:

    Install WINS server

Install Host file on each Windows client or on DHCP server (can’t remember which one) it was worded strange

  7. Click & drop (3 questions):
  8. How does SNMT Manager and Agent work?

    __________________ _____________

    |

    | SNMP Manager SNMP Agent

    __________________ ____________

(3 boxes for STMP manager) (1 box for STMP Agent)

    ________

    ________

    _________

You have to drag each one to the box & drop it where it applies

    Set

    Get

    GetNext

    Trap

  9. Drag and drop the correct subnet mask to match the number of host required:

Subnet mask # Hosts Boxes

255.252 70

255.255.192 17

        1. 8

255.255.224 200

(Don’t remember all the subnet masks or host; calculator was not required on my test- write down subnet mask table before test)

  1. Drag and drop routing entries on each side of the 2/3 Routers to ensure that every host on the network can communicate with every host on the network.all subnets to connect, includes Destination net ID, Gateway address, Subnet IP addresses:
  2. xxx.xxx.64.0, 64.1, 48.0, 48.1, 48.2 (can’t remember all the IP addresses)

The diagram was very busy and difficult to understand try making using the syntax for ADD Route to assist with this question)

  3. Which of the following must you consider when deciding which subnet mask you should use: Select all options that apply:
    1. the IP address class
    2. the type of computers
    3. the number of subnets
    4. the potential for growth
  1. Which entry would you include in the LMHOSTS file on each Windows based computer for every computer to browse every domain?
    1. one entry for the PDC in each remote domain
    2. one entry for each domain controller in the local domain
    3. ?
    4. ?
  1. You want to track the time that it takes to download a file from a UNIX server to your computer. What could you use?
    1. Network Monitor and SNMP
    2. Performance Monitor and SNMP
    3. SNMP
    4. ?
  1. One question on ARP (don’t remember the questions)
  2. What would you use to view Ethernet and statistics?
    1. Netstat –e, -s

(Can’t remember the other choices)

  1. What utility would you use to reload the purge the Netbios cache?
    1. nbstat –r
    2. nbstat –R
    3. netstat –r
    4. ?
  1. (Scenario from Transcender)

Install NT Server computer with three network cards on TCP/IP network. This server will act as a router.

Required result:

The server must route TCP/IP packets

Optional desired results:

The server should dynamically update its routing tables

The server should provide IP addresses to all client computer

The server should send trap messages to a UIX serve

(Note: numbers are not used for options, which makes it more difficult to visually keep track)

Proposed solution:

Assign one IP address to each network adapter on the server

Install WINS on the server

Install DHCP service on the server. Create one scope.

Install the SNMP service on the server. Trap

  1. produces required results
  2. only two
  3. only one
  4. does not produce
  1. Same Scenario but change Proposed to;

Assign one IP address to each network adapter on the server. Enable IP forwarding on the server

Install RIP/IP

    1. produces required results.

  1. (3 Exhibit questions)

Exhibit: How would you configure COMP0l host (not sure of name) as the trap destination in Windows SNMP Properties NT Security tab:

<Exhibit of SNMP NT Security tab>

Send Authentication Trap box (checked)

Accepted Community Name: (in panel)

(netmanger(not sure of name)

Choose options that apply to add host COMP01 for destination trap?

    1. Remove check from Send Authentication Trap box
    2. Select Only Accept SNMP Packets from These Hosts
    3. Add host name COMP01 to the name list in bottom panel

That’s all folks that I can remember. This was my 1st adaptive type test and it was quite different but easier after you reprogram to take this type of test. Good luck to you all others just remember you can really take the full 90 minutes just pace yourself and remember you can’t go back to change your answers. The test is not designed to kick you off after answering 10 questions wrong like I thought. Read the instructions very carefully.
