Subject: MCSE [Fwd: TCP/IP 4.0 Braindump]
Passed the TCP/IP test today.....whew! I'm tired.

The only study material I used was the MOC and various braindumps I found on this site and others.

Since there are several braindumps out there that are very good, I will only list the things I found to be a surprise.

  1. 70% of my test questions had something to do with WINS, DNS or DHCP and how they related to each other. I can tell you now, that if you do not thouroughly understand how these 3 interact with each other....you are not going to pass. Especially if you get a test with like 10 or 12 senario questions (I had 8).
  2. I only had 3 questions where I had to refer to my subnet table.
  3. 1 question where I had to know what RAS security option I had to enable for a PPTP RAS connection.
  4. I had 5 or 6 questions where I had to know subtle differences between Performance Monitor, Network Monitor, netstat, nbtstat. Know how your tools work!
  5. Had a couple of questions on BOOTP.
  6. Couple of questions on the differences between DHCP scopes.
  7. Know the effect of changing the size of TCP sliding windows.
  8. Know ALL the LMHOSTS file keywords and what they do.
  9. Know the differences between the 5 different types of WINS static mapping addresses.
  10. Had at least 5 questions on WINS, DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP is a multiple operating system environment.
  11. 2 questions on printing in a multiple OS environment.

That's about it. Again, know WINS, DNS & DHCP like the back of your hand and the test will be easy......well...easier.

Regards,
