Subject: Internetworking TCP/IP on NT 4.0

Don't freak out about subnetting. This is what held me up and I went in there totally blind i.e. no tables etc.

I used the new (for Australia anyway) MS self paced training for Internetworking TCP/IP on NT 4.0. I found this by far to be the best book and it did cover everything on the test.

2 x simple class C questions on what subnet for 6 subnets with X hosts etc

1 x as above for class B

Know all the trouble shooting utilities it arp, telnet, nbtstat, netstat and what they do. The questions trick you by asking what tool would you use to display TCP/IP stats from a previous session etc.

Heaps of situation question - 1 x 4 part question that each scenario got closer to all the objectives. Found these tough.

2 x 2 part scenario - WINS browsing, LMHOSTS type - one where Unix had to browse using host names etc.

LPR and LPQ questions, you think you know it until you get the trick questions.

I didn't get and what order does WINS or DNS resolve

1 easy SMTP security question

Well I am glad that's over and although it was tough, don't be spooked by the subnetting monster. I still only have a basic mathematical understanding, though I could easily refer to a table if required. It is important to understand the issues IMO.

Well, good luck
Cheers,
