Subject: braindump for tcp/ip

Hello all: I passed tcp/ip at 12/26/1997 with score 879. I very thanks this site admin. and whose contribute on it. It very helpful to make me successful on exam. Following is my braindump:

 

1.ip subnet problem about 3,4 quizs

you just write down the subnet table before you start the test timer and when you see the subnet questions you just compare the table and the answer is come out,very easy.


2.situation problems

(1) in the mix network(unix and windows-base) has some subnets,how about you can do let unix host can communicate to windows-base client use computer name, and what can you do let windows-base client use the command "ftp //servername/share" to communicate with unix host. (3 subproblems)

(2) you want to add new NT server machine which has three network adapter to the network.
require result:
route tcp/ip packet
optional result:
enable automatic change routing table when route is changed
automatic assign ip address
send trap message to snmp management system

(2 subproblems)


3.about 8-9 quiz about these tools : netstat, nbtstat, performance monitor, network monitor, arp, tracert, ping. Almost about ask you on what situation use what tools .such as:when you want to clean netbios name cache what tool you can use.

Note netstat result is CUMULATIVE what different between PERFMON and NETMON

 

5.tcp/ip print has 3,4 quiz

(1) print device connect to unix run lpd, but want nt server to monitor the print status and manage document print, how will you do, but you can't change client configure. (on the NT server install print port for lpr and share the printer)

(2) different between lpr and lpq

 

6.about three quiz for snmp

what must you want to know before config the snmp service (snmp management ip address and community group)

what must you install before you can use PERFMON to monitor the tcp/ip-ed counter how to maintain snmp secure,about community

 

7.the formats of hosts and lmhosts;such as what is MX, SOA records in hosts
what is #DOM #PRE in lmhosts
WINS can import what files
(about 5-6 quiz)

8.pull and push partners on wins

9.on your network has 6 subnets. one PDC in one subnet, 5 BDC in the other subnets.
how will you do to be sure BDC can authentication user account when PDC is fail (in all domain controllers' lmhost file add the others' ip address and add #PRE )

how will you do to be sure BDC can communicate with PDC

(in the 5 BDCs' lmhosts add a entry for PDC and add #DOM #PRE at the line tail)

 

10.use dns service what file can resolve root domain name (cache.dns )

11.one question for pptp when you want to use RAS to access your company LAN through Internet,you can use what to secure your access. (pptp filtering)

12.you can ping yourself by ip ,but you can't ping ip of the others on the same subnet. why? (netmask error)
