Subject: TCP/IP 70-59
I took TCP/IP for Windows NT 4.0 this morning and passed with a 90 so Im pretty happy. I have to say though that I studied WAY to hard for this, or rather this was an easy exam. I used the MS Press book which was pretty good but in hindsight, I think the IDG book would have been better. I also used the Transcender + the Microsoft free PEP test as well.
A few key tips- Know the definitions and what does what for NETSTAT, NBTSTAT, ARP, TRACERT, IPCONFIG, Network Monitor, Performance Monitor (on my test I had no less than 15 question of these EASY definition things). I only had 3 questions on which subnet mask to use, so memorized the Subnet Mask table for a few more simple ones.
Know wether to use WINS (a.k.a Netbios Name / LMHost file) or to use DNS (a.k.a Host name ) in situations.
Be able to look at an IP,SUBNET MASK, and Default Gateway and tell where the problem is.
Also the use of PUSH/PULL in a WINS Server environment.
On a multihomed computer, you must have IP forwarding enabled, and an #MH entry in the table.
Also printing to a UNIX printer (use LPR), Viewing the queue of a UNIX printer (LPQ), or copying a file from UNIX/Windows you can use FTP or TFTP or RCP. Also use TELNET to view records or use an application on a remote UNIX server.
Thats about it- like I said, I though it was going to be much more worse but it was easier than Networking Essentials. Well anyway, 5 tests down and just 1 to go!! (Yes I can see the light!!!) So Im off to study Exchange.
Thankx to everyone for their braindumps. Good luck All!
