Took the test today got 25 questions and finished within 28 mins. Passed  it.

Study Materials: Exam Cram TCP/IP (read the entire book), Trencender Test version Beta 3.91, Braindump (especially thanks to PHa, Chilipepper, and studyguide. I only look thru these questions the night  2:00AM before the test)

Preparation before test: Make sure you can score above 920 on the Trencender test (all three of them). Understand all the utilities and it's switch.

I got NBTSTAT, NBSTAT, ARP, IPCONFIG (LPQ,and LPD: there was not a questions about the switches on these two) Got one quesiton on how to copy files in a remote unix server " Choose TWO"

*RCP

*RSH <--- PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK ME

NETBIOS name resolution

RAS

Understand the relationship and how to of DNS with DHCP, WINS with DHCP, DNS + WINS with DHCP, and unix.

Preparation During Test: forgot to bring my calculator, the Win Cal came in handy once or twice. No tables were made. (I was under the impression that not many subnet questions, boy was I wrong) I got three or four in a row.

Test contents:

Subnet Questions: "YES, There are Subnet questions, I got about 3 or 4 of them" Make sure you understand how to determine one IP address in local subnet from the remote subnet.  Most of the subnet questions were seem from the Trencender Test.

Scenereios: Yes, make sure you did all the scenerios questions from the Trencender test...

example from test

*The Chicago and Miami office problem:

Wins Server to push and pull parterners

the way they present the proposed solution is differenet from the Trencender test. Everything is in table form. But the meaning is still the same.

*The usual combination of WINS, DNS setup problem with Unix and Win95, NT systems with multiple subnet, just like from the Trencender test, they simply just add a SMTP option.

Got a question on SMTP, but it was included in a scenerio question about how to setup the SMTP services on NT Server.

One more questions from TT it is on the test is

Question: What service(s) is/are started with WINS? Choice two (2)

(a) Alerter

(b) Messenger

(c) Workstation

(d) Computer Browser

(e) Something else I forgot

I still do not know the answer... please check it is on the test.

Conclusion: The TCP/IP test is not easy, but it's not hard either. Just   remember study hard.
