Just passed TCP-IP 879/1000.
With 2 weeks studied on the Sybex & Exam cram, I'm very satisfied with the score I got. I though Microsoft going nail us on this protocol, that why I spent a lots of time go over sybex book and Exam Cram. But when I took the exam, I am very surprised. The transender test is much much harder than the real test. Therefore; every body out there just relax. Here are my brain dumps.
Remember these key words
When Unix involved must have a >> DNS
To make a multihome pc routable must >> IP FORWARDING
To make a multihome auto update static table >> RIP IP
To trap message >> SNMP
Very straight forward, no calc needed if your have a sub_table in front. In general, they ask you to find the subnet mask that would fit for their need
Example: network have 9 office and intend to need 7 more in the next 2 years and they need at least # of host
Alots troubleshooting questions
When a users can connect to remote subnet but can't connect local or vice versus.
Remember these key words
*Can't connect to remote subnet >> invalid default gateway on your wkst or invalid gateway on the remote side
*Able to connect to the remote subnet but can't on the local subnet >> invalid local subnet mask
* Want to setup a print at the NT server for wrkst and Unix client to use, what need to install on the server.
ANSWER >> install TCP/IP printer service on the server.
* What util that can obtain the changes when you modified the DHCP option
ANSWER >> ipconfig /all
* Determine # of host ip needed
ANSWER >> 1 for each NIC and 1 for each router interface
* Accessing your network through the internet
ANSWER >> PPTP
* Mapping IP to hardware address
ANSWER >> ARP
* A DHCP enable client move to different subnet, and no longer able to use tcp/ip
ANSWER >> The IP or the gateway was manually reconfig before moving
* Order of the Netbios name resolution cache, win, B node, lmhosts, host, dns
