Test Name: Internetworking with TCP/IP on NT 4

Test # 70-59

The test was almost as hard as NT Server 4 - a bit less. This was the hybrid style exam. Part adaptive and part regular. Knowledge of command line utilities is fairly important, as well as use of WINS and DNS.

Drag and drop subnet masks onto blanks with x # of hosts required.

Drag and drop "Valid" and "Invalid" onto IP address. (know your host ip address ranges)

You can:

ftp server.com

cannot ftp 130.46.17.2

what is the problem?

Know cache.dns DNS file uses: question about how it relates to the Internet.

Know what MX record is for.

Scenario on Dallas and Seattle, 10 NT Servers in Seattle with 1000 workstations. 2 NT Servers in Dallas with 225 Workstations. WINS installed in Dallas and Seattle. Need to replicated Seattle to Dallas. Diagram only indicated Seattle to Dallas replication, once every day (24 hour).

Know LPQ is to view que info

Know LPR is to print to Line printer REMOTE (printer from UNIX host)

Performance monitor needs SNMP to enable certain counters: what counters??

TRIP OUT ON WHAT INCORRECT DEFAULT GATEWAY AND SUBNET MASKS WILL RESULT IN.

Lots of troubleshooting stuff: Can ping host on local subnet, but cannot use UNC in Explore to connect.

Cannot connect to host on local subnet, but CAN ping,

Why would your workstaion not be able to connect to a remote host. Using somesorta monitor, your workstation is sending a bunch of broadcast packets when trying to contact default gateway.

Know what counters SNMP allows Performance Monitor to do?

Which monitor (network/performance) allows monitoring data rates between hosts.

All I can remember now, I'm going to bed.
