I passed with 763 yesterday, 9th January 1999. This is my first article posted on Braindump after my 5 examinations. Thanks for everyone who has contributed on this site. My studying materials are Microsoft TCP/IP training (Microsoft Press, 1997) and Braindump.

I have only 25 questions and I see only a few questions I thought are easy.

I knew that the exam has changed to adaptive mode on the day before I took the exam. Fortunately, the braindumps are very helpful to me, especially Laurence

(13.4.98), Carman (14.3.98), Studyguide (2.8.98), Chili Pepper (25.9.98), PHa (15.10.98) and rooster (23.8.98).

These are all I remembered but the questions are not exactly the same as the original one. All the answers I have chosen may not be the right one. So please check yourself:

1. You have to install a new name server. You have two DNS server already. Which type of the server you have to set for the new server if you want it to resolve the name outside the network.

    1. Primary name server
    2. Secondary name server
    3. Forwarder for DNS server
    4. Forwarder for Wins

I have chosen 3.

2. You have one DHCP server, two DNS servers and two Wins Servers for 7 subnets. All are Windows NT servers and workstations or Windows 95. You want to set all the servers in one subnet. What should you do? (Choose 3)

    1. Assign the IP address of DHCP server to all clients.
    2. Assign the IP addresses of DNS servers to all clients.
    3. Assign the IP addresses of Wins servers to all clients.
    4. Set Wins Proxy for non-wins enabled clients.
    5. Set DHCP relay agents for other subnets
    6. Set DNS servers for other subnets.

I have chosen 1,2 and 3 although it is not said that the routers are broadcast enabled.

3. Two subnets are set up as follow. Why only wsk4 can’t connect to Market?

Computer (wsk1) Computer (Market)

Ip: x.y.19.z

Subnet:255.255.252.0

Default Gateway: x.y.16.1

Computer (wsk2)------(x.y.4.1)Router(x.y.16.1)------Computer (wsk4)

Ip: x.y.21.z

Subnet:255.255.252.0

Default Gateway: x.y.4.1

Computer (wsk3) Computer (wsk5)

Ip: x.y.18.z

Subnet:255.255.252.0

Default Gateway: x.y.4.1

    1. Invalid IP address of Market
    2. Invalid IP address of wsk4
    3. Invalid default gateway of Market
    4. Invalid default gateway of wsk4

I have chosen 2.

4. There are two subnets, each has one DHCP server. Clients are NT and Unix. You want to set up the DHCP servers so that each can act as the backup DHCP server for the other if the other DHCP server is unavailable.

Required result: Automatic assign IP addresses.

Optional result: ………………

Proposed solution: for one DHCP server, set the scope for each subnet, excluding the IP address of UNIX. Copy the setting to the other DHCP server.

I have chosen: Does not meet the required result.

5. RAS has to be set up in your network. Marine, one of the clients, reports that she can not specify IP address every time she connects the RAS. How should you do?

    1. Configure the RAS so that clients can specify an IP address
    2. Configure the RAS so that the server will assign a specific address to marine.
    3. …………
    4. …………

I have chosen 2.

6. You have set a DHCP server in your network. You want some servers can get the same IP address every time when they are started up. What should you need for the client reservation? (Choose 2)

    1. IP addresses.
    2. xxxxx.
    3. Hardware addresses
    4. xxxxxx

I have chosen 1 and 3

There are many questions about WINS, DHCP, DNS and RAS. Make sure you know the integration of WIN and DNS. I think the examination is harder than before, if you only depend on braindump since there are many questions you may not see before. I think Microsoft has to change the examination mode as most of the questions are posted here. ^_^. Now every one can only see 25-35 questions each time, so few questions will be seen on braindump. Please contribute with all you can remember. By the way, try your best to pass the exams!!!
