I just took the exam 70-59. None of the tools that I used really prepared me for the depth of the questions. (I used Exam-Cram and about a year ago I took the class at an ATEC).
This was the most difficult exam for me to date (this was #6) and I was also pretty freaked because of the new format.
First of all there are 10 standard type questions, some of which you may see here. There are between 15 and 25 adaptive questions. I think that a large part of the difficulty for me was the Idea that this new format was supposed to be harder. If you just recognize it as another test it will be no big deal. (Don't even think about taking No Hope seriously.) I finished the exam in 25 questions and my required passing score was 570. That may vary with the difficulty of the questions you are asked ???
One area that was hit pretty hard for me was resolving host names in mixed environments. You will still need to be able to determine what subnet mask a computer should have and if its address puts it on the same subnet.
One question referred directly to an RFC ***** compliant router. You had to drag the correct service to the right server on the network diagram so that dhcp requests or name resolution could be passed to a different subnet.
I think that a little experience would have helped me a lot. I only work in small all-Microsoft evironments.
My advice is to know name resolution inside and out, especially for a mix of Unix and NT servers. (On the other hand maybe I got more of those because I don't know anything about them)
Best of Luck and a huge thanks to all who contributed.
