Just completed exam 70-059, so I thought I’d share my experiences as this site helped me a lot.

This was my first MCP exam and it was fairly tough, from the other people’s feedback it is supposed to be one of the tougher exams and probably not the ideal one to start with. I passed but found it quite difficult.

The passing score was 750 and I was asked 58 questions, the breakdown of which are as follows

• DHCP/WINS – 13 questions
• Utilities – 13 questions
• Troubleshooting – 6 questions
• Situational/Planning – 6 questions
• LMHosts – 5 questions
• Subnetting – 4 questions
• DNS – 4 questions
• SNMP – 1 question
• IP routing – 2 questions
• RAS/FTP – 3 questions
• Printing – 3 questions

For my preparation I used the Microsoft Official Curriculum , course no. 688, which I found to be quite good. However using another book to get a different viewpoint as well would probably have been most beneficial to me. Also I had no real idea what to expect in the exams as I didn’t have the Transcendors (except for the downloadable demo) and the MS PEP exams (which is misleadingly easy)
