Subject: 70-059
I passed the TCP/IP exam yesterday with an 895. I thought it was pretty tough because I took over 80 minues to complete it and I generally take exams pretty quickly.
There were several questions about subneting, but they were not too difficult. I did not create a table of subnets because I did not see the value. If you understand subnetting well and how to translate binary values to decimal well, then you don't need it. I didn't even need the calculator. Yes, the exam allows you to use the scientific calculator which will do binary to decimal conversions for you.
There was only one difficult question about static routing tables. It was tough because the exhibit was large and the question was verbose. I had to draw the example on the scratch pad and then refer to the question.
Many of the answers for the trouble shooting questions were not very clear.
There were two questions about host tables and lmhost tables that I remembered. They were not difficult.
Know DHCP relay, DHCP, Wins Replication, DNS.
There was one question about using a Win NT server to connect to the internet. What should the default gateway be if clients are using the ras server to access the internet.
I used the Sybex book, 3rd edition. The questions were nothing like the exam. I also used the PEP test and beach front quizzer. The pep test was the most realistic.
Good luck!
