Wrote Server this morning bright and early. 3 down, 3
to go. Couldn't have done it without this site and everybody who's
posted here. I don't remember specifics from the exam, (took it in
25 minutes), but I will do my best to generate a little info for
payback.
No answers here, just general info.
Only had 1 question on ARC path naming and it had to do with
pointing to system on mirror partition in case the primary gets hosed.
4-5 RAS questions. The usual stuff that I have seen in
braindumps. Around 2 on authentication: User setting own level
and the
one about 3rd party software.
What settings can DHCP server configure? Gateway, Subnet,
FTP server address, Mail Server Address, etc.(not all of these of
course).
A couple of questions on file permissions; moving within a NTFS
partition, copying - permissions retained, inherited, etc.? (this should
be old hat by now).
I did get the infamous Mandatory profile, PDC goes down, user
tries to log on, what happens question. I have seen different
permutations of this question in the brain
dumps, watch the wording to get the correct answer.
Where do you put files for export?
Had three or four on performance monitoring; know where to set
alerts(your workstation or server you are monitoring);
know
what chart, log, etc. are used for.
Mirror sets: one disk fails, you install new disk, what
is the first thing you do?
You boot and get error about boot sector corrupted, how do you
fix it?
Know when to use NWlink and GSNW. I got the question about
migrating NW to NT.
Optimizing performance: frequently used protocols get
moved to top. Users access local network and remote network.
They
use Netbios access local network, TCP/IP
to access remote. 90% of their work is done on local network, 10% on
remote.
What would you do to maximize
performance?
Managing shares on remote server: Server manager. (providing
Server tools are installed)
Managing files and printers: Explorer.(providing Server
tools are installed.)
Put NTBOOTDD.SYS on boot disk for SCSI harddrive w/BIOS
disabled.
I did not see anything on this test that was not in either a
braindump or on TRANSCENDER(can i say that word on TV?).
