I used Microsoft Press material and a book called Exam Cram (ISBN 1-57610-191-6). The MS Press material consisted of 2 separate packages: Windows NT Technical Support and Windows NT Network Administration. The MS Press material has much more material than is required for this exam, but I think that they can also be used to prepare for the Enterprise exam. The accompanying CD’s had some very nice simulations and videos that I found very useful. I think I could have used only the Exam Cram book and still passed this exam. Some of their sample questions (probably more than half of them) were actually on the exam.

Comments:

• I was surprised that I didn’t have any questions about user rights or permissions.
• No questions relating to what files are missing or corrupt if startup error messages such as: BOOT: couldn’t find NTLDR. Please insert another disk.
• Netware interoperability was in approximately 10 questions. Know this well.
• RAS was in about 5-7 questions.
• Approximately 5-7 Performance monitor questions which were all very easy.
• 3-5 questions on ARC names, nothing too difficult if you know it.
• 5-7 on fault tolerance. Again, nothing to rack your brain over.
• Know when to use WINNT.EXE and when to use WINNT32.EXE
• Know about promoting and demoting domain servers
• No questions on printer pooling or logical printers
• No questions on printing permissions such as Print, Manage Documents or Full Control
• No questions on the installation switches such as WINNT32 /OX
• Know which computers can be import/export servers. Note: Win95 can’t be either
