Wrote the NT Server exam this morning 4 September 1998. Scored 927. I knew
most questions from Transcenders and Braindumps, though there were a couple
I hadnt seen before. Please look up the answers!!!!!!!! Here they are:
You want to modify Alec's user account so he can log on from any workstation
in the domain and receive his own desktop settings. How?
a) on the domain controller, use the System Properties dialog box to copy
Alec's user profile to his user account.
b) on the domain controller, use the System Properties dialog box to copy
Alec's local profile to the profiles directory.
c) Use User Manager for Domains to assign a UNC path to the profile for
Alec's user account.
d) Use User Manager for Domains to assign a home directory to Alec.
I chose c)
In one question, there is an exhibit of the RAS network configuration
properties dialog box (network -> services -> RAS -> properties -> network).
The question is: You want to allow remote users to choose their own level of
password encryption security when they configure their computer to dial into
the RAS server. Which setting must you select?
I clicked on 'Use any authentication including clear text'.
There is a database on a RAS server. The application used to access the
database requires the Winsock interface. The RAS server runs TCPIP and
NetBEUI. The client workstations run TCPIP and NetBEUI as well. How do you
configure the RAS server to allows clients access to the database?
a) Install the Windows Sockets interface from source media.
b) Select 'Assign a configured IP address to client computer' (or something)
c) Configure the PPP settings of NetBEUI.
d) Configure the SLIP setttings of TCPIP.
I chose b) by elimination.
You have two hard disks, each with one 1 GIG partition. The paging file is
on the first disk which also contains the system partition. Disk performance
is low. How can you improve the situation:
a) Increase the paging file.
b) Decrease the paging file.
c) Move the paging file to the second hard disk.
d) Move the paging file to a different partition on the first hard disk.
I chose c).
One question on what to do after a hard disk in a stripe set with parity has failed. You have just replaced it with a new hard disk of equal size as each of the remaining partitions in the stripe set. Before you select 'Regenerate', do you select all the partitions in the stripe set, and then select Regenerate, or do you only have to select the new partition and select Regenerate? Check it out.
Know your stuff on Network Client Administrator. At least what kind of operating systems you can make startup disks for. There was a question on how to connect a client to the server to install NT server across the network. Two answers were obviously wrong. The other two were:
a) connect to the server by using a NT server startup disk created by the Network Client Administrator on another NT server machine.
d) boot to msdos, connect to the server, and install NT server from there.
Look up this one too!
Cheers,
