Subject: NT 4.0 SITE
I did a little research on a question that seems to be troubling many people who are taking the SITE exam and many who have also taken it:
"If your server's primary role is that of logon authentication then what should the memory settings be set to?"
A. Minimize Memory Used
B. Balance
C. Maximize throughput for file sharing
D. Maximize throughput for network applications
Now, before I go on please visit this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q154/0/75.asp or go to Microsoft's site; choose support; then support online; and do a search on "maximize throughput for file sharing".
After I read this first paragraph I get the impression that "maximize throughput for file sharing" and "maximize throughput for network applications" affect the server's memory settings in the same manner. Keep This In Mind. I read on and see that setting up a PDC for "maximize throughput for network applications" would cause the system performance to suffer. Therefore I deduce that "maximize throughput for file sharing" would cause a PDC's performance to suffer since "maximize throughput for file sharing" and "maximize throughput for network applications" treat memory in the same manner.
In my opinion, after reading this article I agree with the Transcender Exams and answer B, that Balance is the correct setting for a server whose primary role is that of logon authentication.
