test name: Implementing and Supporting Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0
test # 070-067
From: DOODLEBUG
Greetings to all you wanna be MCP's and MCSE's. Here is my contribution to
BDH.
Subject: I passed the NT Server test (70-067) test with a 927 last week! I
guess this means I missed either 4 or 5 questions. I believe that some of
the questions are weighted differently so it is difficult to say exactly
how many questions I got wrong. Regardless, I thought the exam as whole was
easier than I had anticipated (hint don't agonize too much over the test
just prepare as best you can and get it over with)!
Resources used: (I'll try to weight the value of the items using
hindsight).
Brain Dumps: 35%
Transcender: 45%
Microsoft Official Curriculum, Sybex Press, Exam Cram, and a ridiculous
number of miscellaneous other reference books: 20%
NOTE: A good brain dump to refer to is Marc's (2.8.98) brain dump, although
much of the more technical issues Marc mentions (ARP, SAP, etc) are simply
never going to be on the server test, maybe Enterprise and/or Net Tech. .
Unlike Mark I had passed one Transcender practice test (just before I sat
for the real thing) but only just barely. Keep in mind that Transcender's
passing score is 850/100 where Microsoft's actual test only requires
764/1000.
What's on the test:
First I want to address what I have seen in some of the other more recent
Brain Dumps. Some people have been implying that Microsoft has "caught on
to Transcender" and that this test uses some tricky wording in an effort to
get us to pick an incorrect answer (though a similar test question may have
appeared on a Transcender test). I would like to stress that this is the
EXCEPTION to the rule! The vast majority of my questions were either
identical to Transcender questions or nearly so. As with any questions you
should read each at least two times before selecting an answer and then
review the question again to make sure you are not missing anything.
Several questions had extraneous crap thrown in that had nothing to do with
the issue in question, just do your best to recognize this material so you
can focus on the real question. Don't second guess yourself, pick an answer
and move on.
Since most of my questions were on other, recent brain dumps I won't
repeat them. Instead I will list the few problem questions that stuck in my
memory.
One question in particular which sticks in my memory was the one about the
user having problems (slowing system performance) when printing with the
spool file/folder on the OS (boot) partition. I had seen this one on
Transcender and the correct answer was to edit the registry to point to a
different drive thereby changing its location. This answer was not an
option on the test! Instead I had some goofy choices, I had to choose to
expand the drive (volume set). I didn't care for this choice but as I
recall there wasn't anything else that sounded right.
I of course had the age-old question about the mandatory user profile being
stored on PDC, which was down. After having had reviewed this question
extensively and seen other brain dumps of people who had gotten perfect or
nearly perfect scores I went with the NO LOGON PERMITTED choice.
Be aware that Microsoft refers to boot and system partitions in a reverse
fashion than the rest of the world (typical Microsoft arrogance). If you
don't know what I mean then find out!!! The exam cram book actually makes a
point of this issue and Transcender hints around it in one of their
questions
Well that's all I can remember for now.
Final advice: Rely on Transcender test heavily but use brain dumps to
become aware of new or altered questions. Good luck to you all!!!!
