Hi everybody. Just passed Server with 909. I'm happy and relieved and very grateful to this site. I read, studied and prepared for exam in two weeks using Exam Cram, NT Transcenders, Microsoft Technical Support and Network Administration books, and this site.   Here's some questions I can remember off the top of my head:

Netware Q's

1. What do you need to migrate from Netware server to NT server? GSNW. (or if select more than one - GSNW and NWlink)
2. What do you need for Netware clients to access Netbios app on Nt Server? Nwlink only
3.  After installing GSNW on server, what's the next step to activate it? I chose "Map a Drive on server through Windows Explorer". Also had "Share through Server Manager" and "Share through Gateway option" questions. Research that.

RAS Q's

1. When accessing several RAS Servers, what do you need to configure to activate Autodial? I put "Create phonebook entries for each RAS Server" but research this.
2.  If some RAS clients use Workstation (for which you must use encrypted authentication) and others use third party ras providers that don't accept encryption, how do you configure authentication settings? Configure different ports to use different authentication settings.
3. Exhibit on RAS configuration: Dial out protocols TCP; Netbios and IPX. Ras Server protocols TCP and Netbios. What can RAS client do? Everything except access Netware server.

Fault Tolerance Q's

1. How do you restore data from failed stripe set WITHOUT parity? Restore from Back-up NOT Regenerate.
2. What's the minimum hardware requirements for disk duplexing? Two controllers/Two physical disks
3. What's the minimum hardware requirements for stripe set w/ parity? One controller/Three physical disks
4.  Exhibit on disk mirroring of one controller and two disks scsi enabled: Disk 0 - System/Data/Data; Disk 1 Data/System(Mirror)/Data. If primary disks fails, how do you edit arc path on boot.ini? multi(0) disk (0) rdisk (1) partition (2)

Managing Resources Q's

1. How do you reconfigure PDC into a member server? Promote BDC and reinstall NT on former PDC, then reconfigure as member server.
2. Need to take demote PDC to BDC. How? Promote BDC first (which automatically demotes PDC).
3. How do you ensure that only Administrators can log on to domain controllers? I chose "Make sure that only Administrators group can log on to domain controller". Also had "Make sure only Administrators group can log on locally" w/ no mention of domain controllers. I went with my gut.
4. How do you share cd-rom on server using client tools from 95 pc? Server Manager
5.  Exhibit on Auditing: Attribute (Success/Fail) - Read (no/no); Write (yes/yes); Change permissions (yes/no). What events will be audited? Any changes to file in that directory
6.  Mandatory profiles enabled but PDC goes down. What happens? I chose "Users can't log on". Only other plausible response was "Users log on successfully and default profile is activated" but question said nothing about whether or not users logged on successfully to domain in the past. So I went w/ my gut.
7. What happens to LFNs and permissions when moving files from NTFS to FAT? LFNs retained and Permissions "discarded" (as opposed to the word "lost").
8.  What happens when files are copied from one directory to another on same partition? Permissions are discarded (watch out for "copied" versus "moved").

Perfomance Monitor Q's

1. You want to monitor TCP/IP counters at three different servers using perf mon on your workstation to view. What must you do before you can view? Questions as follows:
A:  Enable SNMP at each server
B:  Enable SNMP at workstation
C:  Enable TCP/IP chart view
D:  Enable TCP/IP report view

Now this question I commented on b/c I was under the impression that you had to enable SNMP for both servers and workstation (the monitored and the viewer). I went w/ my gut and chose B.

2.  What happens w/ excessive paging? Disk becomes fragmented and apps are slower to start
3.  What do you monitor to check excessive paging? pages per second
4.  You want to be alerted when running low on disk space. How? Do an alert through PERF MON on % disk space on logical disk (don't get this confused w/ setting administrative alerts for system problems on Server Manager).
5. You want to monitor a week full of counters for later analysis. How do you collect data? Create log file.

Printer Q's

1.  Need to change location of spool file. How? I chose "change properties of server and enter new spool file location". Also had "change each printers' properties to direct spool file to different partition". They sound like the same response to me (Printers in NT are the print servers), but its all in the language. This is the second test question I commented on.
2.Need to print from MS-Dos program that does not support UNCs. How? Map physical port.

Installation & Boot Q's

1. How do you upgrade from NT 3.51 to NT 4.0 while preserving settings? (Choose Two) Use setup disks and install 4.0 in 3.51 directory and Boot to 3.51 and at command prompt run WINNT32.
2. How do you create setup disks after installation? From NT machine, run WINNT.EXE from cd
3. What steps do you take to install Win95 from Network Client Administration? (Choose Three) Make Installation startup disk (NOT disk set); share directory w/ Win 95 installation files; and boot from startup disk (Not disk set!)

That's all I can remember. Best of  luck!
