Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Core technologies

Test 70-067

I took the test 3/20 and passed with a score of 856. I took a NT core

class 3 weeks prior to taking the test and studied a lot from the

windows NT 4.0 exam cram book and took the transcender over and over...

I got a lot of information from braindump sites and I want to return the

favor by creating my own braindump entry.

Listed below is a group of questions and what you should know and

understand before you take the NT exam:

1. You have 2 SCSI hard drives on two different SCSI controllers.

Neither controller has its BIOS enabled. The first hard disk contains

the system and boot files. You are using Disk Duplexing and the primary

SCSI controller fails. What should be changed in the BOOT.INI file so

the machine boots NT from the second HD?

2. How would you demote a BDC to a member server?

3. If you have a SCSI HD with the BIOS disabled, what file is

required in the system partition to start NT?

4. Your company has four different offices including one central

office. All offices have the same setup, 3 domain controllers 3 member

servers and 20 NT Workstations. The central office uses TCP/IP and the

other locations use NetBEUI. The workstations in each location the

workstations make connections to their local LAN 80% of the time. How

should your network be configured for the best performance?

5. You have a nonrouted network and you have to configure TCP/IP

manually on the server. You have already assigned an IP address. What

other parameters must you specify to configure TCP/IP.

6. You hired a new assistant Lucy and you want her to learn more

about the counters in the Performance monitor. Where can he find

information about the counters?

7. You want to see statistics of your server's performance for a

whole month. What option would allow you to do that

8. When using the performance monitor to monitor 7 counters every

second from each server on the network. There are 10 servers on the

network and you notice that when running the counter all the other

applications are slowing down. What can you do to solve this problem?

9. You want to implement home directories for all users in the

domain. How would you create home directories for all users in the

domain?

10. George was a member of the Quality Assurance staff and he got

promoted to be a developer. Originally, he was a member of the QC group

and you now add him to the DEVELOPER group. The developer group has full access to the \CODE directory. George still cannot access the

\CODE directory. What is the best way to solve his problem.

11. Client computers are running Windows 95 and MS-DOS, and all use

Client for Microsoft networks and NWLink IPX/SPX Compatible Transport.

All users need data stored on the Windows NT Server computers and

NetWare servers. What should you install on the Windows NT server

computers to provide this access?

12. You are the administrator of a single domain network that has

one Windows NT server computer and 200 Windows NT workstation computers which are all running the TCP/IP protocol. The network is configured to have 2 segments, which are all connected to a separate network card on the server computer. You want to set up the server computer as a router, how will you configure the network adapters to accomplish this?

13. You are the administrator of a Windows NT server computer. You

want all the NetWare client computers to be able to access your SQL

server application that is located on the server. What needs to be

installed on the Windows NT server to make this successful.

14. What needs to be created in order for GSNW to be accessible to

all of your Windows clients.

15. Currently you have Windows NT servers and NetWare servers on

your network. You have all the clients running Client Services for

NetWare to access the NetWare servers. You need to migrate the files

and users to Windows NT using the Migration Tool for NetWare. What else

will need to be installed on the Windows NT server computer to

accomplish the migration.

16. You configure your DHCP server to configure your remote clients

TCP/IP settings. You have already configured your RAS server to use the

DHCP server. Other than the IP address, what additional configuration

can you use with the RAS clients? (multiple answers)

17. Remote users will dial in to your RAS Server by using Microsoft

Windows 95 and third party PPP client software. The PPP software

supports only DES encryption algorithm for logon authentication. You

want to provide the highest possible level of logon authentication

security. What authentication should you require?

18. You need to increase the performance of a windows NT server

computer that usually has fewer than 10 connections simultaneously.

What server setting needs to be configured?

19. You are installing Win NT server from an Intel based computer

with a non-SCSI CDROM drive. During the installation process your

system fails to detect the CDROM drive. What can you do to complete the

install from the non-SCSI CDROM drive.

20. What are the minimal disk requirements for RAID 5? (choose 2)

21. In Disk Administrator you create a partition. What must you do

before formatting the partition?

22. You have installed client based network administration tools on

a Windows 95 machine in your domain. You want to manage printer security

on the Win NT machine. How can it be done?

23. When copying a directory of files from an NTFS partition to a

FAT partition what happens to the file names and permissions? (choose 2)

24. What is required to establish a printer pool? (multiple answers)

25. The Win NT server computer on your network has two 2GB HD. Each HD has 2 1GB NTFS partitions. The system partition and the paging files are located on the first physical disk. What can you do to improve

network response time to this computer?

26. You have a slow response to one of your NT servers. You think

the problem is low memory which is causing excessive paging. Which

activity should you monitor in the performance monitor to confirm your

suspicions?

27. Your server's video card fails. You replace it with a card from

a different vendor. What must you do to get the server running again?
