Again, make TRANSCENDER YOUR BIBLE!

Here is my general advice and braindump for the 70-67 NT Server 4.0 Exam:

First of all, get a good solid study guide, like Windows NT Technical Support or MCSE: NT Server 4 Study Guide (Sybex), or any of the other books recommended around. Make this your basic guide and use the bigger books like Mastering Windows NT Server 4 as your survival guide.

Second, get EXAM CRAM: NT Server 4. If you are having problems with certain concepts, ie: RAS, Netware, Printing, etc, then get this book and read the appropriate chapter(s). Each chapter is no more than about 15 pages, so it makes for concentrated, in depth reading. Be sure to get an errata from their website at http://www.examcram.com, as there are errors in the books. I recommend this as a second to last step in the process.

Third, get the NT-ServerCert 4.0 Transcender and study all three exams carefully down to every answer. Know what each one does and how it applies to the question. Know which solutions it applies to. Know everything you can know about it.

Fourth, read all of the _latest_ braindumps that you can. Anything behind about Mid-July is considered old news. 3.51 has good material, but not good enough to focus on it. Remember, each test is downloaded _daily_ from the testing center and each one is different, so the questions will change. Always stay up to date. Be sure to check out MCSE MCSD Braindump Heaven for the most useful, original braindumps. All the others are just copy cats.

On to the braindump as it goes!

Here were a few questions that stumped me:

A RAS Server has Windows 95 clients and third party clients using DES encrypted authentication. What level of authentication should the RAS Server use?

-- I put Require Encrypted Authentication, because CHAP uses DES. (I think I got it wrong)

You are installing a Windows NT Server that contains 4 2gb SCSI hard disks. You want to implement fault tolerance in such a way that you are able to recover from a drive failure. You also want to maximize disk space usage. Choose the best answer.

a. Disk duplexing

b. Stripe set

c. Disk mirroring

d. Stripe set w/parity

-- I put C, because the system/boot partition can not exist on a stripe set. If it is not included in the fault tolerance scheme, then it is not recoverable. (I think I got it wrong)

I only missed 1 in Planning, Connectivity, and Troubleshooting. I'm not sure what the third one was that I got wrong. It could have been the infamous question on mandatory profiles which I received. I picked the user can not log on at all. Another option was that a dialog box would ask to retrieve the profile from another location (another BDC or cached location for instance).

Otherwise, all of the questions on my test came directly from Transcender and the latest braindumps from Mid-December '97 on. Be sure to study the basic concepts. Everything that people said would be on this test, was on it. Beware. Take care.
