Subject: more tips to 70-67

I would like to add the following tips to the site:

1. ras server. Nt workstations and third party ppp clients needs to connect. Authentication is needed for all clients. (the clients does not support mschap) Can you configure the ras server to have 2 modems (this I know) and enable mschap on one port, (for the nt's) and clear txt on the other? (For the third party clients).
If not, how? - Learn this!

2. dos clients and win 3.x clients are using only ipx/spx to connect to NN server.
You add nt server. You install a clienr/server program on the nt server that all the clients needs.
The program needs netbios to run.
What do you need to install on the nt server?

Learn about RIP, RAS, NOVELL. This is the main thing. Be cool. Win95 was a lot more difficult then this. Remember that you cannot stripe the system and boot partition. Learn the ARC. Everything is multi except SCSI with NO BIOS.

Remember that the page file most NOT be on the system prt. (I'm not sure about the boot prt. So CHECK IT!)

Learn perf. Mon - do not go in too deep.

3. You are the admin of 3 networks and you use ras to admin them. You use AutoDial. You run nt workstation. Assuming that you have ras server on each network:

Can you admin all the 3 simultaneously? (3 modems, multilink, 3 lines.......). How?

How can you best resolve all the names of ALL the computers that are on the networks?

1. DNS

2. LMHOSTS

3. WINS

4. "Am I getting through to you, ------- ELVA!"

Remember that boot diskette must be formatted with NT. You use winnt.exe NOT setup.exe

You use the winnt32 to upgrade from Winnt351

Learn about RDISK. What must you do if the system goes down. How can you restore the REG.

You CANNOT assign 2 ip's to 1 net card.

If you want to use ip forward (or what the fuck they call it) do it ON ANOTHER SEGMENT.
