Subject: 70-067 Brain dump -- My Road to Success
1. I read the MS Press book, "MS Windows NT Network Administration" first. (Appr. 450 pages)
2. I read the MS Press book, "MS Windows NT Technical Support" second. (Appr. 700 pages)
Important Fact: The Transcender test exams for this test were very helpful in my preparation for the real thing. These exams are highly recommended.
At this point, I printed out the following brain dumps from this site and used certain sections that I will point out here in my brain dump.
Let's see, I used Frank's entire dump. Here are some corrections to his dump with question number:
6. How would you install Win95 over a network? (Choose all)
a. Share Win95 Installation files
b. Make installation startup disk with Network Client Administrator
c. Make Installation disk set with Network Client Administrator
d. Install using startup disk
e Install using disk set
(Frank's answer: a/c/d)
REAL Answer: a, b, d. - Just remember to avoid disk sets.
8. You have 4 physical disks with 250 MB of free space each. You want to create a strip set w/ parity. What will be the actual size of the stripe set?
a. 250
b. 500
c. 750
d. 1000
(Frank's answer: c)
Frank's answer wasn't wrong but his question was. The answer to his question would have been 1000 because the total disk space consumed by a stripe set w/parity includes the parity. The actual question asked what was the size of the "writable" disk space. There is a difference.
Frank did an excellent job of documenting the questions he confronted.
I used a section from Gervasio's dump at the very bottom where is says, " 'Fill in arrays ".
I used the Robert link too. His was great. Two thumbs up.
Jesper's brain dump was good in that it forced you to investigate the right answer because he only posted questions and relevant choices. Another good dump.
I jumped down to Steven's link then the Martyn's dump. Awesome resources.
Here's the gist of some of the toughest questions I encountered that I hadn't seen on any brain dump that I studied. Forgive me for not having a photographic memory like the others.
1. You have certain NT workstations that need to connect to a RAS Server using data encryption while a second group connects with a 3rd party connection protocol that does not support data encryption. The second group needs to access a database on another server through their existing connection to the RAS Server. How do you satisfy these requirements?
Answer: Set up a modem to a certain port that requires data encryption and one modem to another port not requiring data encryption. Have everybody connect to the proper port.
2. You are taking 10 NT workstations from a branch office to the main office and want to add them to the main office domain, DOMAIN1. What is the best way of doing that?
Answer: Use Server Manager to create the computer accounts. Then logon to each workstation and configure them to logon to DOMAIN1.
This question was confusing because another choice was worded something
like this: "First, logon to each workstation, configure them to logon
to DOMAIN1, and create a computer account for each." Well, you can
create a computer account on the fly from each workstation. I've done it.
In the Network Icon of Control Panel when you specify the domain name NT
will prompt you for an administrator's account and password from the domain
you wish this computer to be a part of.
It's all in the wording. If you get this question you'll see what I mean.
Know that to change the location of the print spooler you must:
Know that if clients are using mandatory profiles and when the server that keeps the profiles goes down that clients will NOT be able to logon during that time.
Know Interoperating with Novell NetWare. Know Fault Tolerance and Disk Striping.
In all my studies I was still a bit confused about how to recover from disk failure when Mirror Sets were being used. It kinda depends on which member of the mirror set goes down as to how you go about recovering from it. I believe the question will ask for only the FIRST step in the recovering process. If it's the primary member, you'll have to edit the boot.ini file on a boot disk first and if it's the secondary member you'll be able to boot but your first step will be to either break the mirror set *or* replace the failed disk. I didn't get the question so I'm still not sure what a question might ask for but you could so be sure yourself.
That's all I have to add. If you follow this path you will certainly be ready for anything that this exam could throw your way. Also, don't take anything you find in the brain dumps for granted - Look up the answers.
It's the only way to be sure.
