Subject: Exam 70-67
Took NT Server Exam yesterday and passed. Much of the exam was on connectivity
with Netware, which surprised me. Only 1 question on RAS. Some of the
questions I felt were vague and offered partial answers, so study carefully.
2 printing questions:
1.Users complain they are trying to print to a print server. They have sent
several jobs, but none have printed. You can't delete them. How do you solve
this problem?
2. A printer goes down and several jobs are stuck. How do you re-direct to a working printer?
Much of the Netware questions dealt with going from Netware TO NT, so be sure to read questions carefully.
1. Company A has Netware 3.X. Machines need access to a newly installed NT
Server. To support access, what services / protocols need to be installed
(pick all)
File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW) and NWLink. Remember, Gateway
Services provides the access from NT TO Netware. This is going the other way.
That's why you don't check the boxes for GSNW or Client Services for Netware.
2. Company A has a Netware Network, but needs access to SQL Server
applications. What elements / protocols need to be available on the NT Server?
NWLink IPX/SPX. This is a trick question because SQL is a client/server
application. That means the NW clients already have the software necessary to
communicate with the server. File and Print Services looks tempting, but
client/server apps supply their own client side intelligence. DON'T PICK IT.
Know that the 802.2 frame type is the only frame type NT auto detects, and
that is Netware 3.12 and higher.
Remember you need to map a drive on the NT Server to the Netware shares, and
permissions can only be managed through the GSNW. Printers, can be managed
through printer manager, though.
Backup questions very easy:
1. PDC set to back up BDC's and workstations. Backup takes more than
overnight. How do you shorten time?
Install a second tape on the BDC. Have BDC backup workstations, and PDC back
up itself and BDC's.
2. Tape backup on BDC. Boss wants registry backed up. How?
Install a second tape on the PDC and choose Backup local registry option.
For Performance Monitor, know difference between views. Know you need to set
an alert for each server you are monitoring. Know alerts go to individuals or
groups.
Good luck. I cannot emphasize careful reading of the questions enough.
