70-67, Administering Windows NT4 Server

Richard Lippmann got it! These are the questions written down after succeeding the test. My advice: do not believe in "political answers". Not everything goes in using a utility, you have sometimes to use Registry Editor, sometimes you have to reinstall or do other hard things.

First the questions, at the end of the document the answers...

  1. All file permissions are inherited from the destination subdirectory.
  2. All file permissions are discarded.
  3. All file permissions are retained.
  4. All file permissions are set to full control for the Everyone special group.

Question 4: You want to prevent all users except members of the administrators group from logging on to the domain from any of the domain controllers. How?

  1. Remove all users except members of the Administrators group from the Interactive special group.
  2. Place all users except members of the Administrators group in the Interactive special group.

On the exhibit you see the following:

How can you change the role of the PDC?

Restart the old PDC. It will be automatically demoted to a BDC when the new PDC is detected.
  2. Shut down both the existing PDC and the BDC that will be promoted.
Restart the BDC. It will be automatically demoted to a PDC when no other PDC is detected.
  3. Use Server Manager to stop the Net Logon Service on both the PDC and the BDC.
Promote the BDC to the PDC.
Demote the old PDC to a BDC.
Start the Net Logon Service on both.
  4. Use Server Manager to promote the BDC to a PDC. The existing PDC will be automatically demoted.

Question 8: Your network is configured as a single domain that has three domain controllers and 25 NT Workstations. For security purposes you assing roaming user profiles to all user accounts in the domain. The profiles are mandatory.
The server on which the profiles are stored fails. What will happen when users attempt to log on to the domain while the server is shut down?

  1. Users will log on successfully and will receive the Default user profile.
  2. Users will log on successfully and will receive their profiles, but any changes made to the computer will be lost.
  3. Users will not be able to logon to the domain.
  4. Users can choose to log on to the domain and select a profile that is stored on a different server.

Question 10: You are administering a Windows NT Server computer from a Windows 95 client computer. You install Server Admin Tools on the Windows 95 computer.
You want to share a CD-ROM that is attached to the Windows NT server computer. What must you use on the Win95 computer to do this?

  1. net.exe utility
  2. Server Manager
  3. Disk Administrator
  4. Windows NT Explorer

Question 14: You want to perform a tape backup of the registry files of the Windows NT Server. How must you use the Windows NT Backup program to do this?

  1. Select differential as the backup type.
  2. Use the Windows NT backup program from a remote WinNT Server computer only.
  3. Specify at least one file on the volume that contains the registry.

Question 15: You configure a stripe set without parity on three physical disks. On of the disks fails.
What can you do to recover data that was stored on the stripe set?

Where should you look for additional information about this error?

  1. bootlog.txt file
  2. device.log file
  3. the Services option in Control Panel

  2. Change the Properties on the server to specify a new location for the spool directory. Give the spool directory a new location that contains more free disk space.
  3. Change the printer properties of each of the printers to specify a new partition that will contain the spool files.
  4. Use disk administrator to extend the system partition so that it contains more free space.

Question 27: Your network is configured as a single domain named DOMAIN1. The network has one PDC, two BDCs, and two member servers. Some of the network workstations run Windows NT Workstation and some run Windows 95. The Directory Replicator Service on the PDC is configured as shown in the exhibit.
Which computers will receive replicated files from the PDC? (Choose all that apply)

On the exhibit you see the following:
A window named "Directory replication on NTSERVER1", a cross in Export Dir, To: DOMAIN1

Could anyone give me a picture for this? I only have the german version of Windows NT which does not help here very much.

  2. all Member Servers that are configured to import from the PDC
  3. all NT Workstations that are configured to import from the PDC
  4. all Windows 95 computers that are configured to import from the PDC

Question 30: Your network uses NWLink IPX/SPX Compatible Transport protocol. Half of the client computers use 802.3, the other half use 802.2 frame type.
You are adding a Windows NT server computer to the network. This server has one network adapter.
What must you do on the new server?

  1. Install and configure RIP for NWLink IPX/SPX compatible protocol.

How should you reconfigure the roles of the domain controllers in order to optimize the computer that will run the applications?

  1. Promote one of the BDCs to become the PDC. Reconfigure the former PDC as a member server.
  2. Promote one of the BDCs to become the PDC. Reinstall the former PDC and configure it as a memberserver.
  3. Demote the PDC to become a member server. Reinstall an existing BDC and configure it as the PDC.
  4. Demote the PDC to become a member server. Promote one the BDCs to become the PDC.
