Okay passed my Server exam 900 over... but realized that there were some

tricky questions that I wasn't prepared for Since posting questions

about the exam is 'wrong' I shall post my exam notes and 'possible' exam

questions..... better??

When Copying from Same partition INHERIT properties/permissions

When Copying from Different partition INHERIT properties/permissions

When Moving from same partition RETAIN permissions

When Moving from same different partition INHERIT

permissions

Upgrading 3.51 to 4.0

choice one: use NT installation diskettes and then save them to the

default/current windows 3.51 dir.

Choice two: Boot to dos and run win32.exe and then save them to the

default/current windows 3.51 dir.

RAS disconnecting people, hence use the Device.log to trace problem

ALERTS!!

System ERRORS alerts use SERVER MANAGER

Counter Alerts Use Performance monitor - Ie: low disk space/ Paging per

sec etc.

Mirror set:

1: Break Mirror

2. delete partition

3. install new disk and recreate

4. assign drive letter

Add a new NT WS computer into a domain:

1: Use server manager for domains and create account

2: Add workstations

3: From the Nt workstation log in as Administrator and enter the new

domain to join. (Network icon)

TCPIP in a non routed environment requires a subnet mask

WIN NT computers only --------- CSNW ------àNet Ware Server

ALL WIN computer ----------- GSNW -------à NW Srver

Applications/SQL DB/ ß---------NWLink------NW clients

PDCs cannot be demoted to a memebr server, NT server has to installed.

SHARES --------done through-----àServer manager (*remember S -> S)

Permissions ---done through------àExplorer

Boot disk for SCSI without BIOS Requires Ntbootdd.sys

HP Laser printer on Unix network requires the TCPIP protocol and NOT

DLC!!!

LMHOSTS resides in the CLIENTS not the server.

Madatory User profile: CANNOT LOG IN when server is down.

Possible questions that they may ask are (I'm guessing):

1: In stalling printer on NT server 4 wiht NT 3.5 connected to it, what

drivers need to be installed?

a: All available drivers for the available Hardware connected to it

(something like that)

b: Drivers for only NT 3.5

c: Do nothing

Well as you can see I was quite confused. I know that I can install

drivers on the server and the Win 95/WS/Server will be able to download

from the server.

53.) Ten Windows NT Workstation computers are being moved from your

branch office to the company's main office. The main office has a

network that consists of a single domain named CENTRAL. You want the

branch-office Windows NT workstation computers to be

a) A domain administrator must use Server Manager to add the workstation

to the CENTRAL domain. A Workstation administrator must log on at each

workstation and configure the workstation to join the CENTRAL domain.

b) A domain administrator must log on at each workstation and create a

computer account, and must then join the CENTRAL domain.

Selected A

(This question is really tricky!! Even though I knew that the systems

partition cannot be part of the stripe, they connivingly left out the

word System and played around with the sentence. So be really careful.)

3. You install Windows NT Server on partition C of a new computer that

has three physical disks. How can you provide fault tolerance for your

Windows NT system files?

a) Convert partition C to NTFS, and then exted the partition to the

second physical disk by creating an extended volume set.

b) Mirror partition C to the second physical disk

c) Create a stripe set by combining partition C and the second physical

disk.

d) Create a stripe set with parity by combinning partition C and the

other two physical disks.

Selected B

Gift question:

You use Disk Administrator to create a stripe set with parity. You have

four hard disks. Each hard disk has 250 MB of free space. How much total

space will be available for data storage?

a) 250 MB

b) 500 MB

c) 750 MB

d) 1,000 MB

selected c

formula for max space= drive space(physical drives-1) = 250(4-1) = 750
