Subject: Brain dump submit: 70-067 NT Server 4.0

EXAM 70-067

Ok, I'll do my best here:

1. In Windows NT Server Manager, what graphic is the PDC represented by? (cube, cube with monitor, computer with monitor, etc.)

2. In Windows NT Server Manager, what graphic is the BDC represented by? (cube, cube with monitor, computer with monitor, etc.)

3. Fred from Marketing is helping out Juan from Sales on a project. To help, Fred must be able to access a shared folder named DATA and work with files there. Fred belongs to the MARKETING global group. Fred is added to the global group SALES which gives him change permissions to the DATA share. Fred logs out and then logs in to the domain again and is still unable to access the DATA share.

What would you have to do to get Fred access to the DATA share? (an exhibit showes the share permissions for the DATA share - SALES gg has change permissions, several users from the local domain have change permissions (fred is not one of these users), MARKETING gg has no access) (choose one)

a. Give Fred's user account full permissions to the DATA share

b. Give Fred's user account change permissions to the DATA share

c. Remove Fred from the MARKETING global group

d. Shave Fred's head and tell him to reboot again (this is great, I was laughing so hard!)

4. Know your ARC naming... know both variations.. MULT and SCSI. Also, very important to note that any primary partition created after extended partitions are created is given a lower partition number and all of the extended partitions are renumbered. I got 2 questions on ARC (i.e. 2 physical disks, 3 partitions on each disk. disk 1 partition 2 is a mirror of the boot/system partition on disk 0. Disk 0 fails, what should the ARC read to boot properly to the mirrored volume)

5. What is required of printer pooling? (choose one)

a. All printers in the same pool must be identical

b. All printers in the same pool must be able to use the same driver on the print server

c. All printers in the same pool must be color printers

d. All printers in the same pool must be able to handle at least 300 dpi

6. A print job has jammed a network printer and the paper path has been clogged and the toner cartridge has melted into a puddle. The printer will be down for a while. How would you redirect print jobs from that printer to another network printer? (choose one)

a. Drag all of the print jobs from the print manager and drop them onto the icon representing another network printer

b. Purge all print jobs, unshare the printer and notify all users to resend their jobs to another printer.

c. On the Ports tab in printer properties on the print server, create a new port with the UNC name of another shared printer on the network that can use the same driver

d. Call Microsoft

7. You copy several folders and files from an NTFS partition to a FAT partition. How will security and permissions settings be handled on the destination partition?

8. You copy several folders and files from an NTFS partition to a FAT partition. How will long file names be handled on the destination partition?

9. You start a new job as the server administrator at a company. You suspect that the paging file on the server is not being utilized correctly and is running slower than expected. You look at the server which has 4 disks (1 for system/boot partition, 3 in a stripe set) and see that the page file is set to reside on the boot/system partition only. What do you do to increase efficiency of the pagefile? (choose one)

a. Increase the size of the page file

b. Decrease the size of the page file

c. Delete the page file

d. Move the page file to a different physical disk

10. Know your various NT error messages on bootup (i.e. Windows NT cannot find ntoskrnl.exe or the file is corrupt). Some of the error messages (even though they mention ntoskrnl.exe, yadda yadda yadda) point to a flaw in the boot.ini since the boot.ini is not telling ntloader where to look for the boot files (C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32). Study pages 634-636 of the Sybex book NT 4.0 SERVER

11. Know the steps required to make an NT boot disk so you could boot a server from a floppy (format a disk in the a: drive from Windows NT explorer, and copy over NTLDR, NTDETECT, and BOOT.INI). If the disks are on a scsi controller and the scsi bios is not enabled, you need 2 other files... ntbootdd.sys and one other one.. I think it's osloader.exe

12. Which levels of Windows NT software RAID can incorporate the system/boot partitions in its disk set? (check all that apply)

a. Volume set

b. Stripe set

c. Stripe set w/ parity

d. Mirror set

13. You have 2 servers Server A and server B. Server A has a tape backup unit installed and backs up both server A and server B every night with no problem. Server B has no backup device attached to it. You now need to back up both servers as well as all workstations over the network every night. Upon first trial, you find that the full backup did not finish until 10 am the next day which is unacceptable. Backups must finish by 6am at the latest. What would you do? (choose one)

a. Install a 2nd tape backup device on Server A and have the 1st tape backup device back up the servers, have the 2nd tape backup device back up all workstations

b. Install a 2nd tape backup device on Server A and have the 1st tape backup device back up the workstations, have the 2nd tape backup device back up both servers

c. Install a tape backup device on Server B and have the 1st tape backup device back up the servers, have the 2nd tape backup device on server B back up all workstations

d. Remove the backup device from server A and install it on the faster server B. Install a 2nd tape backup device on faster server B. Have the 1st backup device back up both servers, have the 2nd backup device on server B back up all workstations

14. To enable a gateway for Netware on an NT server, you must have: (choose one)

a. An account name on the Netware server named NTGATEWAY

b. A global group on the NT server named NTGATEWAY

c. A group on the Netware named NTGATEWAY

c. A group on the Netware server named GATEWAY

e. An account name on the Netware server named NTGATEWAY

f. An account name on the NT server named GATEWAY

15. What kind of entries can global groups contain? What kind of entries can local groups contain? (other local groups, other global groups, account names, other local groups from a trusted domain, other global groups from a trusted domain, account names from a trusted domain).

There are many questions on Netware and RAS. RAS was a problem for me as I only scored a 62% on connectivity. Most of the RAS questions deal with authentication protocol issues (PAP, CHAP, and MS-CHAP, clear text). Some RAS questions deal with using a connection over RAS to connect to some Netware server on the network (use NWLink on the workstation as a dial up protocol or use GSNW on an NT server).

A fair amount of questions on using performance monitor as well! Know your 3 different screens for performance monitor-- Chart, Log, and Alert.

Two questions on directory replication for export and import computers with exhibits.

Thats all I can remember for now.. there are a few other questions I know but they are really simple and I'm sure you would ace them.
