Subject: NT server 4.0 Brain dump

Passed on Fri July 25 with a score of 981. Many thanks to those who posted dumps on this site.

Study materials: course 922 & 803, exam cram, transcenders, this site. Here is what I can remember from the exam.

1. Question about mandatory profiles. (users cannot log on.)

2. Gather info on TCP/IP from counters on others servers. (SNMP on the servers you want to gather info from).

3. Had three ARC naming convention questions. (Must remember that SCSI is only used when SCSI has the bios disabled. Everything is multi. "disk" is ignored when Multi is used. "rdisk" is ignored when Multi is used.)

4. Boot disk creation for SCSI drive. What file do you need? (ntbootdd.sys)

5. How to convert FAT into NTFS? (convert.exe)

6. A few questions on fault tolerance. Know this area well.

7. How would you install W95 over the network?

(share W95 files make startup disk with Network Administrator Boot using startup disk)

8. Your Nt server runs IPX with netware clients connecting. What are the clients able to access? (Client/server apps supporting NETBIOS.)

9. Upgrade from 3.51 to 4.0. Choose two. (boot from dos & run WINNT.EXE to same directory as 3.51. Boot from 3.51and run WINNT32.EXE.

10. HP printer question not being able to connect to the network. (DLC)

11. Where do you view failed dependency services? (event viewer).

12. Got NW clients running 802.2 & 802.3 with an NT server. Cant seem to talk (manually detect frame type. List all frames).

13. video not working after adding a video card? (boot to VGA mode and install correct driver in control panel, display.)

14. 3 disks with system & boot on C. How do you implement fault tolerance? (mirror only possible choiceà..don't get fooled into thinking stripe set with parity just because you see 3 disks. The system and partition info cannot be part of a stripe set with parity.)

15. Question about research 1 using too many resources and bogging down the network. (new NIC, New subnet, enable IP forwarding)

16. 250 mb of space on 4 disk in a stripe set with parity. How much space is available for data? (750 mb)

17. Running NT server tools on a W95 machine. Where do you promote a BDC to a PDC (server manager).

18. Running NT server tools on a W95 machine. Where do you manage permissions? (explorer)

19.Excessive paging? (add more RAM)

20. If paging file expands beyond its capacity, what happens. (disk fragmentation & apps take longer to start.)

21. Monitoring several servers from your workstation. Workstation is running very slowly. Fix ? (increase measurement interval)

22. Want to track performance monitor for a week? (log file.)

23. Question about optimizing the paging file. (remember to move it off the system & boot partitions, & spread it out over the other drives)

That's about all I can remeberr in terms if specificsàààà. ààà..There were a few RAS & netware questionsààà.know these areas well.
