70-067 Implementing And Supporting Windows NT Server

I took this this evening and passed with 945. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this site. I also studied the New Riders guide (which I thought was horrible and very poorly edited) as well as having quite a bit of hands on experience.

 My tip for taking the exam:

1. Dont cram right up until you take the exam. You know it by now or you don't.

 2. Have a bite to eat. It relaxes your body.

 3. Be confident.

 Anyway, on to what I can remember:

 1. If the PDC is down and there are mandatory profiles YOU CAN NOT LOG IN!!!

I got 100% in connectivity, so Im sure this is right.

 2. If you install a new SCSI card and a network adapter and you reboot and get a message like "The Dependency Service Failed to Start", know where to find out more about this. Choices:

a. device.log

b. system.log

c. event viewer

d. something else

(I don't know... I guessed so that's no good to anyone)

 3. Know the difference between a logical subnet and a physical subnet, and what to do if a particular group is causing too much traffic.

 4. Know the different installs and how to create 3 disk sets. Remeber Winnt32 can only be run from WindowsNT, Winnt from DOS (Dos, 3.x, 95) - there is no setup.exe I had two on this, they weren't hard there were just a lot of "almost" answers.

 5. Know RAS, and that to administer remote networks from a workstation you need to add entries to the phone book. Know which protocols RAS can use and how to enable logging (just registry, not exact place).

 6. Know ARC names - I thought I could BS my way through this, but I forgot if it's multi() or scis() when the scsi bios is enabled... oops :)

 7. A user can't print. You add to groups with access, but still can't:

a. User isn't part of the domain

b. Something else

c. User needs to log off and log back on

8. If you crash and need to make boot disks do you do it on a dos machine or on an NT machine?

I have no idea. You do edit the boot.ini file to change the ARC path.

9. Lots of questions on Netware. What do you need installed to run a NetBIOS app from a netware client? Sharing Netware resources, migrating.

 10. How to add client machines to the domain.

 11. How to promote/demote servers and change them to member(file) servers - You can promote a BDC and the PDC will automatically demote itself. To switch between an xDC and a member(file) server, you need to reinstall.

 12. Replication - PDC, BDC, Member can export; PDC, BDC, Member, Workstation can import.
