Subject: mandatory user profiles
ok, you know how everyone is saying you cannnot log in with mandatory user profile if server is down...well they are wrong...i got this directly from Microsofts web page , concerning FAQ on NT Server 4.0
Question:
When users log on and their mandatory user profiles are unavailable (for example, the server is offline), the local user profile is used. Under Windows NT 3.51, users were not allowed to log on when their mandatory user profile was not available. How can I implement this behavior under Windows NT 4.0?
Answer:
To prevent user from logging on when the mandatory user profiles are not available, in addition to renaming Ntuser.dat to Ntuser.man, add the .man extension to a user's profile folder, and then add the .man extension to the profile path in User Manager for Domains. For example, rename Joe User's profile folder to joeuser.man, and then use User Manager for Domains to modify Joe's profile path to \\servername\sharename\joeuser.man.
