Does anyone know what’s up with MS?

I just don’t get it. Net Ess (879) was difficult but not impossible,

then WS was painfully EASY! (901) And now I just did the Server exam and

it was HARD (800). I’ve studied the same way for each: braindumps,

transcender and I’m taking courses w/MOC.

I wish everyone luck and suggest taking a good look at transcender if

you can. Most questions weren’t exactly from there but they show you how

you can word a question to really confuse you.

Important: I checked a Q that many had the wrong ans to in the dumps…

NT backup, how to you backup the registry?

It IS NOT THE ANSWER: PICK A FILE IN THE REGISTRY AND BACK IT UP.

Wrong. I checked transcender and then checked an NT book. The answer is:

CHOOSE THE DRIVE THAT HAS THE REG., CHECK THE BOX FOR "BACKUPING UP THE

LOCAL REGISTRY" AND USE NT BACKUP. Do check answers. Check mine to. I

only squeaked by this one.

What I can remember: (sorry I don’t have the memory like others here)

1. Got the mandatory profile Q (and I hope it was true that you can’t

logon)

2. Q on backing up takes too long, you have Main 1 and Main 2 servers

with one DAT tape drive on Main 1.

I said: Install 2nd tape drive on Main 2

3. I had lots of NW Connectivity Q’s. I know I missed these and why?

B/c of the wording and I just still guess sometimes w/Nwlink and GSNW ,

etc. Study those!

4. Perf Moniter: 1 Q on one week of monitoring, what do you do?

I put a Chart. (is that right?)

5. Had the crosshair Q: Using RAS, place "+" on the picture…you’ll find

the Q in the dumps with DES and 3rd party software…

I put "clear text" answer

6. SCSI disabled file you need Q:

Ntbootdd.sys

7. I think I had 2 Q’s on ARC names

8. Installation Q on non-SCSI drive

I put you’ll do the install and chose "S" check for other storage

devices.

9. Some pagefile Q’s (adding memory)

10. Config TCP/IP non-routed environment:

Subnet mask

11. Q on exporting files and where they would be placed

12. Binding order Q w/WS using 90% Netbeui

Sure, move Netbeui to top

13 Q on Perf Moniter and free disk space

It was something about checking the free space so you do it in Perf

Mont.

14 Q on granting rights (and you look at an exhibit)

How you give ACCTMGRS access to a share.

15 Q on local/global groups…take your time reading through it.

16 Install scsi and tape drive, what do you need to install?

I put three answers: install scsi driver, install tape driver and

restart computer.

17 NTGATEWAY Q:

You need to know it’s a "group" you put on the Netware server.

18 Got the Q on RAS with problems with 2 modems

Enable device log in registry

19 Fat to NTFS

Convert (but they tried to word it strange)

20 Go to Braindump: MVV…

I just realized I wished I studied that particular dump more. Most of my

Q’s are on there.

I hope this helps you. I got a head cold last night which made studying

that much more annoying. I was glad my site didn’t mind my tissues or

water. But you know something? It was really odd, but I could have left

with my notes (I wrote during the exam). The person who checked me out

couldn’t care less. Well, I’m glad I remembered something for all of

you. Looking forward (later) to your suggestions on Enterprise.
