Ok, here is the final, definitive answer for the nagging mandatory

profiles question!

Take it straight from the horses mouth: Microsoft.

Summary:

In winnt 3.51 The answer was and still is that you cannot logon

when PDC goes down.

That alone makes me assume that this is still

the official position of Microsoft

In winnt 4.0 You are able to logon, but this is a bug.

In winnt 4.0 SP3 the bug is fixed and you cannot logon anymore

when the PDC is down.
