Test Name: Implementing and Supporting NT Server 4.0 Test # 70-67
Hi, Just passed the server exam this morning & thought I would contribute my 2 cents.
My test was the adaptive version. This was new to me & kinda strange as it was difficult to determine how you did. I scored a 729 (whatever that means). I only had to answer 25 questions, which was the minimum, so I must have done be OK. Passing score was 545. One thing I didn't like was that you no longer get your results shown per catagory. Oh well, a pass is a pass right?
Anyway, like always, most of the questions have been posted here previously. A new format to me was when you are presented with a scenario and a listing of specific goals. Then, instead of the required/optional result, you need to check all the goals that werre met by the proposed solution. Makes you think a little more.
The one I remember went something like this:
You have 2 4gig drives, no partitions defined. You want to;
a) Store system files & data files on different partitions,
b) You want to provide 6 gigs of data storage space
c) Provide support for long file names
d) Provide fault tolerance for the operating system
Proposed solution:
Format 2 gig Primary partition w/ NTFS on both physical disks, install NT onto this partition on first disk, copy the contents of this partition to the Primary partition on second disk, format remaining space on each disk as extended partitions (seperately) and format each w/ NTFS.
Which of the goals were met?
I chose only A & C. Since there were seperate partitions, you could seperate data from system files. However, there would only be 4 gig available for data. Of course, NTFS supports long file names. No fault tolerance as simply copying a partition to another does not provide fault tolerance. I did not mention anything about creating mirror.
Another question w/ same scenario & goals gave a proposed solution that included creating a 500 mb FAT partition on each disk and mirroring each other. Format remaining space on each disk with FAT.
I answered all but I think I was wrong in that a mirror set must be formatted in NTFS. Didn't have my study materials to check myself afterward, & of course, NT help files did not (help).
Anyway, rest of questions were typical Netware connectivity, global vs. local groups, promoting/demoting DCs, etc...
Study hard, practice with Transcenders (available for free in the newsgroups :-) ), & of course, continue reading the braindumps.
Good luck to all and thanks for the help. SITE next week!
Cheers,
Lardog
